To have a good hookah experience, you require two main ingredients: tobacco and coal. Tobacco can be easily found at any store, but coal requires more attention. Coal is essential for the process, and tobacco is an enhancer. Coals are broadly categorized into two parts: traditional coals and instant light coals. Although traditional coals are much more effective and provide a better experience, it includes maintenance and need for more availability in the market. They can also be on the expensive end, unlike instant light coals.

You might have wondered which is the Best Charcoal for Hookahs or what type of coal suits you. It may be confusing as the market provides various options. Choosing charcoal for your hookah pot or lounge depends on your preference. People that want a short-lived good hookah experience often choose the quick-lighting coal as it is self-lightening in nature and does not require you to do a lot. Once you have settled on the flavor you want for your hookah and the color of the pot, the next step is to choose coal. Various factors are associated with buying coal, some of which are listed below.

Shape

As the industry evolved, so did the products associated with it. Coals come in various shapes and have different functionalities based on the same. For example, if you use flat coal, the chances are that your hookah sessions will be smaller. Similarly, if you opt for cube coal, you will have a slow-burning session that you are likely to enjoy. The shape of the coal will also depend on the area available for the coal in the pot. As pots come in various sizes, you must ensure that the coal fits the given space before making any purchase.

Type

As mentioned previously, coal has two categories, natural and instant light. Natural coal gives you a premium experience based on the quality of the coal. For example, you take coconut charcoal, which most hookah enthusiasts use. This is because the coconut coal varying on the brand, gives a better experience in terms of odor, heat, and time. People that are beginning their journey or are looking for a shorter session can choose instant light or quick light that are in a disc shape that fits easily, light instantly due to the chemical present, and have a short burn time.

Usage

Depending on the individual’s capacity to take the burn/heat, they should choose the coal. Every individual has their way of dealing with the heat that the hookah offers, and if you are a beginner, the chances are that you might not enjoy a pot with higher heat. You can choose a briquette if you wish to have a more extended session. A briquette of 22mm can run efficiently for up to 40-50 minutes, reducing your time to keep changing the coal, which may not be the case in quick-lighting coal.

Final Thoughts

Looking for the best charcoal for hookahs or brands may be challenging, given the variety available. But with proper information about the materials used in the preparation of the coal and the sizes suitable for you, you can make the right choice.
