Swimming is definitely fun especially when you already master every stroke and move like the world-renowned swimmers such as Michael Phelps, Dara Torres, Mark Spitz and the list goes on.

But learning how to work your way through and beneath the water like the professional swimmers can be a bit more challenging than you thought.

And one of the best ways, you can learn swimming effectively is by enrolling in swimming lessons or classes. For the best swimming coaches near you, you can visit bidvine.com.

Aside from that, you may want to scroll through the pages for more tips and guides you may use as a beginner in the said water activity.

So, without further ado, continue reading the next key points for a more enjoyable and more satisfying swimming journey!

1. Be inspired by the alpha swimmers

If you have an immense dream of being one of the top swimmers of all time someday, just know that this doesn’t work overnight.

You have to swim your way to success with all your might and determination.

Aside from that, try to inspire yourself with one, two or more alpha athletes and let their triumphant stories deliver a shed of light to your aspirations.

You may find the list of the best swimmers of all time here: Top 10 Swimmers of All time

2. Do some research

Before you dive into the depth of your dreams, consider doing some research about swimming first.

This may surely help you get more knowledge about the sport and may even be one of your keys to learn swimming faster and easier.

3. Fight your fear of water

It’s understood that some people are aquaphobic – some cases may be average but some cases are alarmingly severe.

But, if you really want to see yourself accomplishing this kind of achievement in your life, you better start fighting your fear.

Overcome your fear of water by seeking guidance from the experts and by gradually making yourself more comfortable with water through spending more time in the pool or even in your bathroom tub.

4. Warm your body up through gliding

Diving and swimming in the water are surely overwhelming.

But there’s one thing you might want to keep in mind when you’re still on the verge of learning swimming intimately.

And that’s by not forgetting to do glides before swimming lengths in the pool.

This is to give your body some time to get used into the water as well as to get the blood flow as part of your warm-up.

5. Learn proper breathing

For your greater knowledge, proper breathing is the key to a successful stroke in the water.

With that, you may want to practice your breathing ability first after you do some gliding.

Upon learning and practising proper breathing continuously, you’ll have more chance to perfect your techniques and eventually skyrocket your swimming abilities.

6. Be wise about purchasing your swimming gears

One of the best tips you have to remember especially when purchasing your swimming gears is to don’t be deceived by the looks.

It’s because sad to say but some trendy-looking swimming gears you may find in boutiques or famous shops may look cool but eventually will loosen up or the colours will fade after several swims faster than you thought.

7. Protect your eyes with swim goggles

Chlorinated swimming pools may irritate or cause redness to your eyes especially if you’re not used to this type of water.

And to see beneath the pool or open water clearly, you’re highly advised to wear your swim goggles regardless if you’re a beginner or a professional swimmer.

Swim goggles won’t only provide you with the best sight underneath the water surface but will also keep it protected from the chlorinated water.

8. Secure your hair with swimming caps

Like how your eyes scream for some protection from the chlorinated water, your hair deserves some attention too.

It’s because if you don’t know, spending lots of time in the chlorinated waters can cause your scalp to be flakey and may eventually damage your hair.

Good thing that there are swimming caps which you can use to keep your hair secured throughout your swimming lessons.

Beyond that, an excellent swimming cap is a great help to reduce the drag while making your way underneath the water which is definitely good.

Take a look at this list of the different types of swimming caps you may choose from: Types of Swim Caps Compared

9. Avoid getting swimmer’s ears by wearing earplugs

If you’re not aware, spending most of your time in the water can also irritate or infect your ears that might result in getting swimmer’s ears.

This irritating condition can be prevented if only you would not neglect wearing earplugs before diving into the water.

10. Consider using nose clips

Last but of course, not the least tip to know as a beginner is the importance of nose clips.

Considering nose clips as part of your learning journey is a great help for you to be familiar with water without being consumed by its current and getting lots of it into your nose [which is certainly uncomfortable and totally irritating].
