In a world of a thousand specialists, it can be hard to understand who is who and who does what. Many people often confuse psychologists, therapists, and psychiatrists with one another. A psychologist is a licensed individual that receives training and education to help individuals. A psychologist may treat various mental health disorders and concerns. To become a psychologist, a person must achieve a bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field. Many psychologists will work toward a master’s degree. With their degree, they can properly assess the concerns of their patients.

Psychologists most commonly use therapy, also known as psychotherapy, to aid their patients. Psychotherapy allows individuals to speak freely about their problems. Psychologists will then use their expertise and knowledge to guide the patient into understanding their problems.

It is often common to see psychologists administer assessments and exercises to patients. With various techniques implemented, psychologists and patients can work through the issues together.

Who Needs To See a Psychologist?
