On Friday, July 6, 2012 Philippine Children’s Charities, Inc., and the Press Photographers Philippines-USA, Inc., announced that one hundred Filipino-Americans who have made a mark in the U.S. either in their chosen careers or their civic contributions will be cited in a black and tie event to be held on July 28 at the Universal Hilton.
Organized by the Philippine Children’s Charities, Inc. and the Press Photographers Philippines-USA, Inc., the ‘100 Outstanding Filipino Americans in the USA’ will be honored and will receive an award in the event that will benefit the Bantay Bata 163 project in the Philippines that helps abused, underprivileged, sick and indigent Filipino children who need funds to go to school and for their healthcare.
Leading organizer and Project Director Darna B. Umayam, Chairman of the Philippine Children’s Charities, Inc., said the outstanding Filipino-Americans were “Chosen from many who were highly recommended to accept this prestigious award because of their achievements in their chosen careers, philanthropic works that they did for the community and for the less fortunate Filipinos back home, most especially the children.”
Umayam said more than 1,000 people are expected to attend the formal event. She said the event will benefit primarily the Bantay Bata 163 project along with other beneficiaries.
