Closing night the L.A. Fashion Weekend at the Sunset Gower Studios Celebrates Fashion for Spring/Summer 2013
October 22, 2012 by Stella Gomez

On October 21, 2012, the fashion show extravaganza ends at the Sunset Gower Studios. Mikey Koffman from “The Gallery Los Angeles” produced and hosted this three day event. Every year, designers prepare to showcase their new designs for future seasons.
There are so many people involved to make these events possible. You have all the Media Sponsors such as Diversity News Magazine, L.A. Fashion Magazine, ApparelNews, American Gentleman Magazine, and Hollyscoop advertising weeks ahead to get the word out, and to bring people to this exciting event.
Most of the media sponsors provided a copy of their magazine for attendees to view and take home. “Diversity News” provided a copy of their magazine in the VIP gift bag on October 19th. Everyone loves fashion, so guests can always look at the fashion magazines for all design debuts.
Where there is people and good music, you also need to have delicious food at a great event such as a Hollywood fashion show at a great location. Don’t forget the sweets too. “Bubba Sweets” provided cupcakes the three days. Drinks galore provided by the delicious liquor of “My World on a plate”, “Little Black Dress Vodka”, “Lodvoka”, and “Venue Sunset Gower-Sunset Bronson”.
Not only can the attendees enjoy a great fashion show, they can meet other people who love fashion like them. Other design suites sponsors such as “Hoodiebuddie” and “Wella Professionals” gave out gifts or samples. Taking home a gift from these sponsors made the event more memorable for everyone. You have “Sugar Scout” displaying their jewelry for viewing. Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace” displayed a sample viewing on how their rooms look at the hotel. Also, they provided guests with a small cream and their advertisement. Luxury is what they are all about.
Don’t forget the beauty tips and makeovers from the stylists “Napoleon” and “Glamglow”. Fashion starts with your appearance, so having stunning makeup and an awesome design on, makes you feel good.
At 8:00 p.m., the curtain opens and people begin to take their seats. Media and photographers are set at center stage. The performance begins by “Midnight Red”. Everyone enjoyed the talented group. They had the honor to perform twice throughout this weekend.
Mikey Koffman from “The Gallery Los Angeles” walks the runway to welcome everyone and thank all for their support. Now the excitement begins by bringing out the designers showcase one by one for everyone to enjoy. (Please click on photos to view them regular size).
The lovely Dina Bar-El knows how to make the people admire her beauty on the runway. Dina designs presents elegance, stunning and beautiful fabrics such as lace, satin, and color. Dresses with shining gray and sparkling gray can be worn to any luxury party. Sequins galore lays upon the front portion of the dress, which is noticeable for any stunning figure. Don’t forget your summer and spring colors of yellow, blue, red, pink and white. These colors are cool for those hot days. Dina’s designs are well fitted to show your curves and make you feel sexy when wearing her glamorous dresses. What a great imagination.
Brown, red, black, peach, and white was on the mind of Designer, Nathanaelle Couture. Outfits that look like two pieces with boarders of fabric lining the entire outfit made the outfit look like a style from in the 40s. A long satin dress with flowers of black and red was perfect for gala parties. A long see through train ensemble into the dress was very elegant. Combinations of red and black dresses with beautiful stunning jewels arranged from the middle of the dress, to top shoulder, just gave a little richness to the outfit. You never can go wrong with lace and satin to make a cool and comfortable. Dresses with flare and fluffiness hit the runway which looks like more of renaissance style.
Designer, Anthony Franco has outrages beautiful taste. He not only designs for women, he includes his men’s style to be as stunning. The handsome models walked the runway with velvet and collaboration of leather fitted suits. The ladies looked beautiful in long shiny dresses consisting of colors of black, white, silver, red, yellow and white. Dresses that drape to the floor can be worn to weddings or even black tie parties. Accessories such as gloves were an awesome combination in making the outfit look luxury and expensive.
Overall the three days of getting together to enjoy the splendid designs of very talented designers, made us look forward to Spring/Summer. The guests also received great information from the sponsors who took the time to attend and contribute to the event. Mikey Koffman always provides the attendees with a great show.

Experiencing the L.A. Fashion Weekend’s Just Fashion Event and Show
October 21, 2012 by Special Guest Writer Thushari Jayasekera
Filed under Celebrities News, Entertainment, Fashion Shows, Fashion Week, Featured, Non Profit News, People
Notes from a Diary of a Round Brown Girl: Special Guest Writer Actress Thushari Jayasekera.
Wella Professional present L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios produced by Mikey Koffman of The Gallery LA on Sunday, October 21, 2012.
On Sunday October 21, 2012 afternoon, I attended the L.A. Fashion Weekend 2nd Annual “Just Fashion” by Public Counsel (Public Counsel is the nation’s largest public interest law firm specializing in delivering pro bono legal services to low-income communities) at the Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood. The producer of the show was Mikey Koffman who is the CEO of the Gallery Los Angeles.
I got to the event early and Mikey was energetically involved with supervising every aspect of the production. She was overseeing the production team and paying attention to all the details to make things run smoothly. There was a silent auction set up as a fundraiser for the Public Counsel. There were sponsor booths near the entrance to the venue and elegant seating arrangement were inviting. Tables were decorated with gifts from sponsors and guests were milling about until the lounge opened. I chatted a little with the Editor in Chief of the American Gentleman Magazine, LeMar L. Joichin, III, who wanted to bring the gentleman’s style back into society. I picked up a few issues of the the Hollywood Weekly and the L.A. Fashion magazine to read while I waited.
The doors opened at about 12:10 pm and the fashion show was to start at 2pm. Guests could choose to get pampered with a mini make-over at the Napoleon sponsored Booth. There were cool sample products at the Wella Booth. One of my favorites was the Bubba Cupcake booth because I usually only love chocolate desserts but the owner Erika had made a tasty Raspberry Champagne cupcake. Also, beverages and tasty bites flowed abundantly for the guests’ enjoyment. One of the other guests used chopstick gifts by Nobu to pick up the sushi rolls that were served and I followed suite. The people were fun and the atmosphere was stylish.
The red-carpet started at 1pm while many attendees mingled and browsed the booths filled with wonderful samples. The lounge area was what they called a “successful crush” in the 1700s or 1800s England when an event was so successfully attended that there was no way to turn around without bumping into someone.
At about 1:45 we were called to go into the fashion show venue. It was beautifully designed with black and white. The runway was white. There were black gift bags on the white chairs for the guests. Mikey opened the show and introduced the President of the Public Counsel Hernán D. Vera who spoke a few words. Two Public Counsel Board Members also spoke. Then the fashion show began to wonderful toe tapping music. The first stylish designer collection was from Dina Bar-el, followed by the graceful lines of Nathanaelle couture with featuring stunningly hot Anthony Franco designs at the end. When it ended I wanted to see more and was appreciative of this well organized show.

Flynn Skye, Black Hearts Brigade, Wolfeep, G. Kim and Parides designers showcased Spring/Summer 2013 collections.
On a cloudy fall day, Wella Professionals presents the L.A. Fashion Weekend at the Sunset Gower Studios on Saturday, October 20, 2012. This extravagate event started at 6:00 p.m. and ended around 9: 30 p.m. Spring/Summer 2013 designs were presented by five talented designers.
Appetizers catered by Nobu Hotel, drinks by “Little Black Dress Vodka”, “Lodvoka”, and “Venue Sunset Gower-Sunset Bronson” set stage at the open bar. Sweet cupcakes provided by “Bubba Sweets” hit the spot.
Before the fashion show, guests can enjoy special gifts from “Hoodiebuddie with HB3 Technology” A teepee display was set up for guests to enter and enjoy taking a picture for entertainment. “Hoodiebuddie” also gave a small hoodie for your cell phone, and a fabulous hoodie sweatshirt which comes with headphones attached. Wella Professional were representing by being the “Title Sponsor” this year. Drop by their booth, and you received a few samples of their hair products. (Note: Please click on the photos to view regular size)
Tables set up by media sponsors such as “L.A. Fashion Magazine”, “ApparelNews”, “American Gentleman Magazine” provided guests a view of their current magazine layout. Our very own Diversity News Magazine published by Diversity News Publications was also a media sponsor this year which on the first night (10-19-2012) a special print edition was included on VIP’s gift bags. “Bibby Financial” was also in attendance. The financial company was “Kick off party Sponsor” for the night.
“Napoleon” and “Glamglow” beauty products allowed guests to get a makeover. Music played while guests walked around taking pictures for their memorable moments. Media and photographers lined up on the red carpet waiting for celebrities and designers to arrive.
At 8:00 p.m., the fashion show was ready to start. A full house was ready to admire the designer’s Spring/Summer 2013 clothing collections. Mikey Koffman from “The Gallery Los Angeles” was ready to welcome all the designers, media, and guests, but first comes live performance by Hannah Alter and her dancers. She rocked the house.
Brands featured by G.Kim,Wolfeep, Parides, Flynn Skye by Amber Farr and Black Heart Brigade were ready to show all their new line up for Spring/Summer 2013.
Long and loose comfortable dresses hit the runway for Designer, Parides by Shahida Clayton. Mixtures of colors ranging from browns, purples, yellow and white made the style look beautiful and cool for Spring/Summer 2013. Short dresses with stunning spring colors added a hoodie for those cool summer night. Slits on the side of the summer dresses reveals the model’s sexy legs. With all the color combinations, this style can be worn by anyone.
G.Kim by Grace Kim had a different view of style. Chic thin long sleeve dresses with ties at the waist can be great for a summer party or even at the workplace. Pleaded short skirts with colors of blue, beige or brown with a loose white top was very cute. It will be a big hit for the teenage girls. Poncho style cover up looked so classy but summery. It was a great idea to represent something different other than just a thin sweater for those Spring/Summer nights.
Wolfeep by Pamela Wolf brought forth the sexy combination of one sided sleeve blouses. Providing a belt on some of the dresses shows the curves of any women. Color combinations of her outfit were cool and bright.
When it comes to Spring/Summer, sometimes not changing much in the designs can make a statement. Black Hearts Brigade seems to stick with the idea that our past style can still work. Just wearing our blue jeans pants and shorts is what makes us feel sexy and comfortable. Jeans never go out of style. Throwing a tee shirt over your bikini is always a great suggestion. Now, blouses with prints of color, makes a statement for anyone wearing it. The variety of colors such as white, black, pink and gray can be used for any season.
Hat and belt accessories were a great combination for Flynn Skye by Amber Farr. The long dotted dress and jumper is perfect for a Spring/Summer night out. A light blouse with printed pant brings balance to your collection and can be combined with just almost anything from wearing a blazer, or just a thin sweater. Not only this, you can go crazy with the jewelry also. The style seemed easy and can be accessorize with anything else in your clothing collection. She shows us how to have fun with it.
The fashion show is a three day event running October 19 through October 21. On the last day, Dina Dar-el, Anthony Franco, and Nathanaelle Couture will showcase their Spring/Summer 2013 designs for all to enjoy and Mikey Koffman will be producing and hosting. Everyone who attended seemed to be satisfied with the outcome of this evening’s fashion show.

LA Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios Opening Night 10-19-2012.
Wella Professional presents L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios produced by The Gallery LA located at 1438 North Gower Street in Hollywood. Opening Night on October 19, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. presented the Spring/Summer 2013 designs for four designers. The L.A. Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower Studios runs from October 19th to October 21st. Every year, Mikey Koffman from “The Gallery Los Angeles” hosts the event.
As guests arrived, they got to splurge in eating appetizers catered by Nobu “My World on a plate” and enjoy drinks from “Little Black Dress Vodka”, “Lodvoka”, and “Venue Sunset Gower-Sunset Bronson” at the open bar. “Bubba Sweets” provided delicious cupcakes to enjoy. “Hoodiebuddie with HB3 Technology” set up a teepee and welcome guest in to have their picture taken, and before they exit, they were given a free hoodie for stopping by.
Our very own Diversity News Magazine was one of the Media Partners advertising this great event. Diversity News Magazine contributed this month’s magazine for the VIP gift bags. A copy is offered for purchase at http://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/453512. A special thank you goes out to all the media partners for taking the time to advertise, sponsor and attend the event.
Wella Professional was the Title Sponsor this year. Nobu Hotel Caesars Palace set up a lovely scene for guests to get the feel in how comfortable it will be to reserve your stay at the hotel. Fashion goes along with beauty; Napoleon Predis and Glamglow sponsored and displayed a variety of make-up which will make anyone feel beautiful any day. Anyone was welcome to stop by and touch up their makeup or even get beauty tips. Sugar Scout displayed punky jewelry for viewing.
Opening performance was “Midnight Red”. The singing group danced all over the runway. Towards the end, the microphones went dead, but that did not stop the group from singing and entertaining.
Now was the time to showcase the designer’s Spring/Summer 2013 designs. Culture Swimwear started off the festivities. It was all about spring colors like pink, blue, orange, purple and greens. What a way to make a lady feel sexy. High waist bottoms designs on a few were perfect for those who want to cover more, but then show a little skin. Also, some of the swimwear had strings hanging on the sides of the bottom portion. What a great idea. Swimwear with lace and knitted backs made the swimwear look more girly.
Amelie Swimwear by Andrea Abaunza had a different idea of Spring/Summer swimwear. Blue, purple, hot pink, orange and a mixture of green were her idea of bringing a splash of color. A sheer top cover up made the swimsuit feel more fashionable when you go to the beach. Comfortable long sheer dresses covered the swimwear. She had a great selection of colors and styles for both adults and children.
Kate Swim by Katherine Bruening, Kate had a crafty side in designing her selection. Kate knows it is all about the colors that make a statement. Purple, pink, orange, light green with strings of rhinestones and shimmering jewels made you feel rich and beautiful. Some of the bikinis had hanging strings and embedded in the fabric with shining jewels. One designer decided to make you feel like a cowgirl with the front portion covered with hanging strings of color. All you need the boots.
Last of the designers was Nicolita/Havana Nights by Christina Milian. Singer, Christina Milian is not only a superstar, but a contributed swimsuit designer. Christina Milian, is an American singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, and model born in Jersey City. Now she joins forces with Nicolita, they both brought the attention to the runway with dark feels of color like black and leopard prints. The mixture of black, green, and white made you feel you are not only at the beach, but in a jungle to. The statement brings out the wild in you. Bringing forward rhinestones on the swimsuit also made you feel rich and noticeable. Swimwear can also consist of black long dresses to use to cover up when it is cold at the beach or even a pool party.
The swimwear collections presented this day was designed for ladies to enjoy. The designers were all clever in selecting the right colors, fabrics and even jewels for Spring/Summer collection. What a way to make a statement when you enjoy the beach or even a pool party. To see more decorative swimwear, you can go to the designer’s website for viewing.
