LOS ANGELES – Univision Communications Inc., the leading media company serving Hispanic America, today announced details for the 2013 H2O Music Festival. The festival will take place on Saturday, August 17 at the Los Angeles State Historic Park. General admission and VIP tickets are on sale now.

A TRIBE CALLED QUEST will serve as co-headliners of the H2O Music Festival and confirmed artists include ROBERTO TAPIA, NE-YO, PRINCE ROYCE, LA SANTA CECILIA and FRANKIE J. The second co-headliner as well as additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
Formed in the late 1980s, A TRIBE CALLED QUEST (ATCQ) is one of the most critically acclaimed hip-hop groups of the century. The group consists of four members: Q-tip, Phife Dog, Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Jarobi. ATCQ are noted for their classic records including “Bonita Applebum” and “Can I Kick It?” as well as “Scenario,” recognized by Time Magazineas one of the ALL-TIME Top 100 Songs.
ROBERTO TAPIA is one of today’s most popular Regional Mexican artists. His recent uplifting and inspirational tracks have attracted a younger and more alternative audience than other traditional artists in his genre. Tapia’s album “El Muchacho” most recently reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums and his single, “Mirando Al Cielo,” held strong as the No. 1 Hit Single on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks for more than 10 weeks.
Award-winning singer, composer, producer, and actor NE-YO (born Shaffer C. Smith) is a talent sought by many artists. With more than 10 million albums sold worldwide, NE-YO has also written and produced hits for a string of stars including Rihanna, Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Usher, Carrie Underwood and Celine Dion among others. His latest album “R.E.D.,” an acronym for Realizing Every Dream, was released to critical acclaim spawning hits such as lead single “Let Me Love You” and the latest “Should Be You.”
PRINCE ROYCE is “the most successful new Latin act in recent years” according to Billboard Magazine. His self-titled debut album has been certified triple platinum in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, and quadruple platinum in Chile. The twenty-four year old has recorded hit songs with superstars Maná, Daddy Yankee and Thalia, and toured the U.S. with Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull. Prince Royce is a three-time Latin GRAMMY nominee and has won 12 Latin Billboard awards, 13 Premio Lo Nuestro awards and 12 Premios Juventud awards. With 10 nominations, he is currently the top artist nominated for the 2013 Premios Juventud Awards Show. Royce garnered the Latin Billboard’s Songwriter of the Year Award in 2012, becoming the youngest person to receive the recognition and was recently awarded BMI’s Songwriter of the Year Award.
Latin GRAMMY nominated, alternative band LA SANTA CECILIA takes their name from the patron saint of music and is the epitome of our new bi-cultural generation — fully immersed in the modern music and art of the country many have called home since their youngest days, while adventurously fusing together a new sound that also pays homage to the rich traditions of their Mexican heritage. La Santa Cecilia consists of accordionist and requintero Jose Carlos, bassist Alex Bendana, percussionist Miguel Ramirez, and lead vocalist La Marisoul, whose captivating voice sings about love, loss and heartbreak.
Multi-platinum recording artist FRANKIE J returns to the charts with his top 10 hit “No Quiero Ver Con Él” and early single “Tienes Que Creer En Mi” from his forthcoming album “Faith, Hope y Amor.” After selling more than 5 million albums and singles worldwide, Frankie’s return includes a successful tour with Jennifer Lopez & Enrique Iglesias.
The H2O Music Series celebrates Hispanics who live in a bilingual, bicultural world and includes a collection of Private Concerts and the H2O Music Festival in Los Angeles. Artists whom have participated in the Private Concert series include Carlos Vives and Enrique Iglesias with opening acts Leslie Grace, and Jessica Sanchez, respectively.
General admission tickets, as well as VIP packages, are on sale now for $39.50 and $95.00, respectively. Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster outlets, by visiting Ticketmaster.com, or charge by phone by calling 800-745-3000.

Congratulations Eric Garcetti Is Elected Mayor City of Los Angeles
May 21, 2013 by News Desk
Filed under Breaking News, City, Local Elections, News, People
Eric Michael Garcetti (born February 4, 1971) is the mayor-elect of Los Angeles and an outgoing member of the Los Angeles City Council, representing the 13th District.[1] He served as Council President from 2006 to 2012.[2]
Garcetti is the son of the former Los Angeles County District Attorney Gil Garcetti. A member of the Democratic Party, Garcetti won in a nonpartisan election for Mayor on May 21, 2013, defeating city Controller Wendy Greuel;[3] Garcetti is the city’s first elected Jewish mayor and its youngest in more than a century.
On May 21, 2013 Eric Garcetti was elected Mayor of Los Angeles with 53.9% of votes. His term will begin in July 2013.
“Thank you Los Angeles–the hard work begins but I am honored to lead this city for the next four years. Let’s make this a great city again.” twitted Mayor elect Eric Garcetti.
“You can’t look to the stars until you’ve fixed the cracks in the sidewalk,” Los Angeles City Councilmember Eric Garcetti often says. As the third-term councilmember serving the 13th Council District, Garcetti has shown that a commitment to the street-level health of the community is a necessary first step in creating positive change. His unique combination of pothole politics and vision has won measurable results in the 13th District, showing how local solutions can show the way to make our city safer, create transportation solutions, and ease the city’s housing crisis.
A fourth-generation Angeleno, Eric Garcetti was born at Good Samaritan Hospital and grew up in Los Angeles. He won a hotly-contested election to the Los Angeles City Council in 2001, becoming one of the youngest city councilmembers in the city’s history. Over 100 languages are spoken on the streets of his district, from Hollywood to Downtown and across the Los Angeles River. The neighborhoods he represents constitute the beating heart of Los Angeles.
Garcetti was unanimously elected as Council President in December 2005 and unanimously re-elected in July 2007 and July 2009. During his tenure as president, he modernized the council’s legislative assignments, making the council’s committees more reflective of the issues that face Los Angeles.
During his first term in office, Garcetti emerged as an effective local problem-solver and as a strong advocate on citywide and national issues. He led the effort to fund the nation’s largest Affordable Housing Trust Fund, oversaw the economic and cultural revitalization of Hollywood, wrote and championed Proposition O to clean up our local water, won passage of a plan that eliminated the city’s business tax for 60% of all businesses, and helped bring thousands of new high wage jobs to Los Angeles and his district. In his district, he tackled neighborhoods’ most intractable problems, nearly tripled the number of parks, ensuring the availability of an after-school program in every school in the district, and reducing graffiti by more than 60 percent.
Councilmember Garcetti’s work has been recognized in dozens of awards, including the John F. Kennedy New Frontier Award for Americans under 40 who are changing their communities with a commitment to public service; the Green Cross Millennium Award from former President Mikhail Gorbachev, for environmental leadership; a “Tiger Award” from the Valley Industry and Commerce Association, for his work on business tax reform; the New Democrat of the Week recognition from the Democratic Leadership Council, for his work on safety in commercial office buildings and security officers’ working conditions; and the first Olson Award from Human Rights Watch for his human rights activism.
The Los Angeles Times writes that Garcetti is “smart” and “imaginative” and offers the city “refreshing idealism.” He was featured in LA Weekly’s Best of Los Angeles issue and the Los Angeles Alternative Press readers named him “L.A.’s Favorite Elected Official” of 2003. In 2004, The Los Angeles Business Journal named him one of the 25 Angelenos who stand out for their potential to shape lives in Los Angeles. A profile in Los Angeles magazine in 2006 called him “a rising star”.
Prior to his election, Garcetti taught public policy, diplomacy and world affairs at Occidental College and the University of Southern California. In 1998, the Rockefeller Foundation selected him as a Next Generation Leadership Fellow. Eric Garcetti was raised in the San Fernando Valley. He studied urban planning and political science at Columbia University, where he received his B.A. and M.A. in International Relations. He studied as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University and the London School of Economics. He is an avid photographer, jazz pianist and composer. He lives in Silver Lake with his wife, Amy Elaine Wakeland.

Last week to go see and meet The Queen and the Royal Court for the 51th Season of The Renaissance Faire.
It was a hot day on Mother’s day, but the crowd showed up. Plenty of Moms came to have some fun at the Renaissance Fair with their families and enjoyed what the fair had to offer. Many came from all over Los Angeles. Also some they came as far from San Diego and Ventura County. With plenty of activities, games crafts, music and performances, this event is ideal for adults and kids. The fair will be open thru the weekend of May 18th and 19th.
The Renaissance Pleasure Faire is held at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, 15501 Arrow Highway, Irwindale, CA., from 10:00 am until 7:00 pm.
On Sunday, May 19th should be special day as they will celebrate the last day of the fair and the 51st Anniversary Season carrying on the tradition closing Day Parade.
Tickets for The Renaissance Pleasure Faire are $25 for adults and $15 for children aged 5-12. Children 4 and under are always free. Adult season passes are $125 and a child’s season pass is $60. About The Renaissance Pleasure Faire:
Begun in 1963 in Agoura, near Malibu, to create “living history” for schoolchildren and their families, the Original Renaissance Pleasure Faire has grown into an annual interactive playground and gallery for over 200,000 participants and guests. It has given birth to an industry nationwide and this year is more fun and exciting than ever.
This Southern California Faire has traveled a bit since Agoura. The Glen Helen Pavilion provided two different settings in Devore (in San Bernadino County) where the Faire spent many years. Shortly after the turn of the Century, the Faire moved back to Los Angeles County, to its current home at the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area, a United States Army Corps of Engineers’ Facility and a unit of County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation System in Irwindale, CA.
Since its inception, more than 5 million people from around the world have visited Southern California’s Renaissance Pleasure Faire, averaging approximately 20,000 each weekend. For more information visit http://www.renfair.com/socal/index.asp

San Francisco, Sunday, May 12, 2013 -GLAAD honored California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, Grammy-nominated singer Adam Lambert, and the best in entertainment and journalism last night at the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco. Mel B, Guillermo Diaz, Tamala Jones, Jinkx Monsoon, Rex Lee and Laverne Cox were among the special guests.
The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives. The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality.
At the ceremony, filmmaker Jennifer Siebel Newsom presented GLAAD’s Golden Gate Award to her husband,Lt. Governor of California Gavin Newsom.
In accepting the award, Newsom said, “There’s one fundamental that defines the best of this city, and the best of this organization, and that is we don’t tolerate our diversity, we truly celebrate our diversity. We highlight all those wonderful and interesting differences, but at the end of the day we unite around our common humanity. As Dr. King so eloquently said, ‘We are all bound together by a web of mutuality.’ We’re all in this together.”
Melanie Brown, a judge on America’s Got Talent and former Spice Girl, presented GLAAD’s Davidson/Valentini Award to out singer Adam Lambert. Speaking of the challenges associated with being an out entertainer, Lambert said, “We are right in the middle of two generations with two different perspectives but one common thread – love. With all the differences of opinion both within the LGBT community and elsewhere, the best we can do is to keep it real and to spread a message of acceptance. If we can inspire even one person to open their mind, or another to be who they want to be, whether they’re gay or straight, old or young, man or woman, black or white then it’s worth being objectified by the sometimes frustrating world of media sensationalism.”
Lambert continued, “Thank you to GLAAD for recognizing my efforts, because I put a lot of effort into this. I think about it a lot (it makes me crazy), but my goal is to try to represent both myself and my community proudly.”
The reigning World Series champion San Francisco Giants received the Corporate Leader Award. The Giants are the first professional sports team honored by GLAAD. They were the first ever professional sports team to host an HIV/AIDS benefit game in 1994, and have generated more than $1.3 million for Bay Area HIV/AIDS education. The Giants were also the first major league sports team to record a video for the It Gets Better project, and this month will hold their 11th Annual LGBT Night Out.

Strict standards for protecting anonymous online commenters urged by Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press
Protecting the identity of someone posting an anonymous review on Yelp or any other website is crucial to protecting speakers’ First Amendment rights and the public good, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press and several news organizations argued in a friend-of-the-court brief filed in the Virginia Court of Appeals.
The Reporters Committee brief in Hadeed v. Yelp calls for a heightened standard of judicial review before anonymous online commenters are identified, and urges the court to revisit a lower court’s order compelling the disclosure of an anonymous criticism of the services of Hadeed Carpet Cleaning posted on the online review site Yelp.
“By offering only a minimal discussion of First Amendment interests at state, the trial court failed to fully acknowledge the extent to which the First Amendment restricts compulsory identification of anonymous speakers on the Internet,” the brief to the Court of Appeals argued. “When faced with questions of compelled disclosure of anonymous online speakers, this Court must adopt a meaningful standard that requires a heightened showing of evidence of a valid claim and notice to the affected parties.
“This standard is essential to protect the interests in anonymous speech, which often serve the public good and contribute to a better understanding of public issues and controversies,” according to the brief, which was joined by the American Society of Newspaper Editors, Gannett Co. Inc., and The Washington Post.
“Courts around the country have established certain benchmarks that must be satisfied before compelling the disclosure of an anonymous commenter,” said Reporters Committee Executive Director Bruce D. Brown. “First, there ought to be tangible evidence that the comment was false and defamatory and, second, speakers should be notified that an action is pending. To do otherwise would be to inhibit robust debate.”
About the Reporters Committee:
Founded in 1970, the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press offers free legal support to thousands of working journalists and media lawyers each year. It is a leader in the fight against persistent efforts by government officials to impede the release of public information, whether by withholding documents or threatening reporters with jail. In addition to its 24/7 Legal Defense Hotline, the Reporters Committee conducts cutting-edge legal research, publishes handbooks and guides on media law issues, files frequent friend-of-the-court legal briefs and offers challenging fellowships and internships for young lawyers and journalists.
