MGM Resorts Presents Commitment To Diversity In Workplace With “Inspiring Our World”
December 11, 2012 by News Desk

Original Multicultural Employee-Based Performance Educates Company’s 50,000+ Workforce on Mission, Core Values, Corporate Responsibility.
LAS VEGAS, Dec. 11, 2012 — How does a company unite 50,000 employees under one corporate culture? For Las Vegas’ MGM Resorts International, the company that set fountains to music in front of Bellagio and changed the face of entertainment with its Cirque du Soleil partnerships, the decision was easy: a Vegas-sized production.
Taking place December 16 – 18, “Inspiring Our World” is a commitment to its employees by MGM Resorts that features 70 employee-performers. Original music, exotic costumes, dynamic choreography spanning multiple cultures and styles come together in an arena where the likes of Prince,Bob Seger and Bon Jovi have performed. Comprising a 1.5-hour production simultaneously performed in English, Spanish and American Sign Language, and digitally represented in 14 languages, the program seeks to educate employees on the company’s mission, its values and its commitment to being a leader in diversity, philanthropy and sustainability.
“We respect and value our diverse and immensely talented team members as the foundation of our success as a global company,” said Jim Murren, Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International. “By engaging our employees in the core values of our company – from Teamwork, to Integrity to Excellence – we foster a healthy workplace, as well as dynamic and sustainable communities where our employees live and work, and where our guests visit.”

Created for employees by employees, the production complements MGM Resorts’ industry-leading Diversity Champion workshops, serving as a much larger educational platform to deepen corporate culture. The collaborative effort unites team members from MGM Resorts’ family of properties on stage and in the audience, while motivating team members to engage, entertain and inspire the millions of guests who visit its resorts each year.
“Engaged employees are one of the most important components of the guest experience,” Murren said. “Happier employees nurture a higher level of guest satisfaction, providing a competitive edge for the company in the long term.”
Inspiring Our World is an initiative that has been a year in the making. Plans for the program began last winter. In September, auditions attracted more than 200 of the company’s talented staff.
The production draws from employees’ hidden talents such as the Receiving Dock worker who happens to play electric violin or the Purchasing executive who used to be a professional singer. Now, the months of scriptwriting, choreography and rehearsal will culminate as the talented troupe gathers for nine performances at the Mandalay Bay Events Center later this month.

Social responsibility is integral to the company’s core creed and philosophy, which carries through to its relationships with employees, guests, and the communities in which its resorts are located. The company has strategically consolidated its pioneering diversity and inclusion, community engagement and environmental sustainability initiatives into a comprehensive platform to promote greater innovation and synergies. The Latin Recording Academy® and the New York-based Artist Unveiled Artwork at Today’s Nominations Announcement in Los Angeles.
On Tuesday, September 25, 2012 The Latin Recording Academy announced that German Pérez has been named the official artist of the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® (www.latingrammy.com). Pérez’s artwork will be proudly used as the official image for the world’s premier Latin music event and will grace the cover of the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards invitation, show tickets, poster, program book, and other important applications. The commissioned artwork was unveiled today in Los Angeles at a press conference, announcing this year’s Latin GRAMMY nominations.
“It is always a pleasure to introduce an artist from the Latin community whose work embodies the essence of Latin music and the creative nature of our organization, and I am proud to say German Pérez has captured and created the exuberance of both for this year’s official Latin GRAMMY image,” said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy.” The vibrant use of his color palette along with the graphic image of Latin music’s most prestigious award evoke a celebratory enthusiasm while promoting the diversity of our musical past and setting the tone for its future.”
Hailing from the Dominican Republic and relocating to New York in the ’80s, Pérez became involved in the pop art and graffiti art movements of the decade. He quickly incorporated the use of these contemporary mediums into his artistic work, which is based on modern interpretations of his native homeland’s cultural roots of Afro-Caribbean and Taino Indian history. He is known for his versatility and wide and creative range of media, experimenting with photography, drawing, sculpture, graphics, and video and TV production. Pérez’s paintings exude vibrancy through his use of primary colors and capture narrative motifs that juxtapose a playfulness of mystery, sensuality and magic. Pérez has held a total of 28 solo exhibitions worldwide and has represented the Dominican Republic at European art biennials in France, Norway, Spain, and Hungary. Extending his creative reach, he has illustrated book covers for authors Julia Alvarez, Kathy Engel and Sergio Troncoso; made an illustration for Juan Luis Guerra’s Ojala Que Llueva Café album; co-produced the album of Dominican folklorist Boni Raposo; and musically performed with guitarist Juan Francisco Ordoñez.
The XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday, Nov. 15, and will be broadcast live on the Univision Network at 8 p.m. ET/7 Central. For more information, please visit www.latingrammy.com.

MIAMI (June 26, 2012 ) — The Latin Recording Academy® (www.latingrammy.com) and Univision announced a new six-year deal that will keep the biggest night in Latin music, the annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® telecast, on Univision through 2018. Univision has been the home of the Latin GRAMMY®s since 2005. This year’s XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will take place live on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas from 8 – 11 p.m. ET/PT (7 p.m. Central).
“We are very pleased to continue our longstanding partnership with our friends at Univision,” said Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of The Latin Recording Academy. “For the past seven years, the Latin GRAMMYs and Univision have consistently collaborated to bring viewers unique and dynamic musical performances from today’s talented Latin musicians from around the world. We are extremely proud of our consistent growth, which is reflected in the success we have achieved, and we look forward to the next six years of our expanding partnership.”
“Univision is the home to some of the biggest nights in entertainment for Hispanics and as such we are pleased to extend our partnership with The Latin Recording Academy,” said Cesar Conde, President of Univision Networks. “Through this agreement, Univision will continue to elevate the first-class Latin GRAMMY experience that Hispanic Americans look forward to every year like only Univision can deliver.”
In addition to the annual awards telecast, the six-year agreement also includes the development of new Latin GRAMMY specials, details of which will be announced in the future.
The Latin GRAMMY Awards telecast is one of Univision’s most watched events, ranking as its highest-rated special. Last year’s 12th Annual Latin GRAMMY telecast was watched by 11.1 million viewers in the U.S. who tuned in to all or part of the live three-hour broadcast on the Univision Network.
