Some of the celebrities the attended the event were Quinton Aaron, Santa Claus, Erik Estrada, La Toya Jackson, Laura McKenzie, Booboo Stewart, Fivel Stewart, Mayor Antonio Ramón Villaraigosa, Lu Parker and Kate Linder.

From the Heart of Hollywood! Starting on Hollywood Blvd at Orange, the U-shaped parade route will travel east to Vine, south on Vine to Sunset Boulevard and west on Sunset, back to Orange.

The length of this year’s parade route is two and one half miles. Per event organizers approximately 2,000 people participated in this year’s parade. They featured a 10,000 square feet of Red Carpet on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the historic Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

The Hollywood Christmas Parade is presented annually by Hollywood’s Santa Parade LLC, in association with The City of Los Angeles and Associated Television International.

About The Hollywood Christmas Parade: Since 1928, the Hollywood Christmas Parade has been an American tradition for over 80 years! There were three years during wartime when the parade wasn’t presented. The Hollywood Christmas Parade was originally called the Santa Claus Lane Parade. When the American performer Gene Autry, who was known as The Singing Cowboy, was riding on his horse down Hollywood Boulevard in the 1946 Santa Claus Lane Parade, he heard parade spectators in the crowd exclaim, “Here comes Santa Claus!” This incident became the inspiration for Autry to compose the traditional perennial Christmas holiday song, “Here Come’s Santa Claus (Right Down Santa Claus Lane),” which he co-wrote with Oakley Haldeman in 1949. Autry first recorded the song in 1947. The song was released as a single by Columbia Records, and became a #5 country and #9 pop hit at the time. Gene Autry is the only celebrity to have five stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, one in each of the five categories, Motion Pictures, Radio, Recording, Television and Live Theater. Today the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard at Highland Avenue, where the Hollywood Christmas Parade begins its two and a half mile route, is named Gene Autry Square. NBC4’s top victories came at the end of the evening, when Channel 4 News at 5 P.M. was named outstanding regularly scheduled daytime newscast from 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., followed by Today in L.A. at 6:00 A.M. being honored for regularly scheduled daily morning newscast from 4:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m., and culminating with Channel 4 News at 11:00 P.M. winning for regularly scheduled newscast from 7:00 p.m.-12:00 a.m.Christine Devine
The Television Academy’s Los Angeles Area governors, Greg Taylor and Sabirna Fair Thomas, introduced Governors Award recipient Devine, who came to the stage with two former foster children who had been placed with loving families through the efforts of “Wednesday’s Child,” the public service initiative devoted to finding adoptive homes for children in foster care through weekly profile segments during FOX11 newscasts.

“Congratulations to Christine Devine, she is a good newscaster at Fox 11 Los Angeles” said Gary Sunkin, freelance Chief of the Newsmedia.

Glee at the 2011 GLAAD AwardsOn Sunday, April 10, 2011 The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) held their 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards which it was presented by Rokk Vodka & Wells Fargo.
Andrew Christian
The event honored Kristin Chenoweth, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt, and the best in television and journalism. The 22nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards was hosted by Amy Poehler and Rashida Jones at the Westin Bonaventure in Los Angeles, CA.

The purpose of the GLAAD Media Awards are to recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community and the issues that affect their lives.  The GLAAD Media Awards also fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories of LGBT people and issues that build support for equality. The event featured a blue red carpet, silent auction and provided cocktails, then later the dinner, awards ceremony and after-party.

Up to 75% OFF

“I’m very grateful to everyone at GLAAD for thinking of me for this honor.” said Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment Chairman.
“I salute all the producers, writers, network executives, and actors who took on the issue and broke ground way before I did — and who continue to do it today.  Many of you are in the room tonight.  I share this award with you.  While we still have a long way to go, we have made great strides both politically and in our media.  May that not only continue, but increase in velocity… because we can help change the way the world thinks about LGBT people, not to mention how LGBT people think about themselves.” Concluded Mr. Greenblatt.
“I want to encourage many people of all faiths to come forward and stand with me.” said Kristin Chenoweth.
“Even if you don’t believe in Jesus the way I do, he did teach love — not just tolerance, but acceptance.  I’m lucky I had parents who adopted me at birth, conservative Southern Baptists who said, ‘You will love everyone the same’…Mostly I would like to thank GLAAD for this amazing, amazing honor.  This is the biggest honor I have ever received.” Concluded Ms. Chenoweth.

Kirsten Dunst presented a Special Recognition award to Bianca “Nikki” Peet, a 17-year-old student from Corpus Christi, Texas, for her efforts to organize a Gay-Straight Alliance at her high school after her principal originally prohibited the group.
