Michael Russell says his employer of 17 years, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and its awards are tainted by fraud and corrupt practices. According to The Wrap, the suit seeks $2 million in damages and alleges the stager of the Golden Globes is guilty of:

  • Accepting money, vacations, and gifts from studios in exchange for nominating their films.
  • Selling media credentials and red carpet space for profit.
  • Accepting payment from studios and producers for lobbying other members for awards nominations.
  • {And] consistently directed Russell to bury stories in the press regarding HFPA’s unethical practices.

Editor’s Note: We tried to communicate to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association publicist firm Sunshine, Sachs & Associates about the controversial and legal battle of their client and we did not wanted to get involved in anything  like this but we tried to support and promote their event and they did not care. They did not even notify us if we were denied or approved to cover the awards show.

So to make this short this is our last coverage and post on Sunshine, Sachs & Associates clients. Also we want to add that Michael Samonte, publicist from Sunshine, Sachs & Associates acknowledged about the controversy in an email and phone conversation back on December 12, 2011 with our editor in-chief Esteban “Steven” Escobar and he told him that they were not the same PR firm. Which he means they are not The Lippin Group, but the funny thing is that he came from The Lippin Group and he even brought some of his colleagues to work with  Sunshine, Sachs & Associates. To prove to us that they were not like The Lippin Group Michael agreed to approve us to cover the announcement of the 69th Annual Golden Globe® Awards nominations. The reality of all this is the here at Diversity News Magazine published by Diversity News Publications we feel discriminated by the Golden Globes Awards/Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Sunshine, Sachs & Associates.

Dear the Hollywood Foreign Press Association you need to hire a public relations firm the creates and cares about your image, reputation and relationship with others. Want to talk to us, contact we are easy to deal with. We want to congratulate all the winners and nominees for outstanding recognition.Thank you.
