Notes from a Diary of a Round Brown Girl: Special Guest Writer Actress Thushari Jayasekera.
On Sunday, August 26, 2012, I dropped by the Pistahan Sa CBS Studio produced by Gandi Skin Care and Maxx Promos. A Filipino American festival event held on Sunday, August 26 afternoon at the CBS Radford Studios located at 4024 Radford Avenue in Studio City, CA 91604 from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
It was fun, entertaining and educational experience.
They were talented warm group of people who were ready to share their culture and talents with their friends and neighbors. This was a cultural event, also a charity event to raise funds benefiting SAGIP KAPAMILYA (at the gate) for the benefit of the FLOOD VICTIMS in the Philippines.
A magic act was performing on stage when I arrived. There were a variety of booths from Glitter Tatoos to a law firm to Fil-Am Digital TV station. The food was delicious and I especially enjoyed the fried banana roll from Josephine’s Bistro.
Serveral music groups and singers were on stage to entertain the crowd. There were even children’s bands.
One band, FTC’s (Four Times Charm Band) kid singer had a voice that could rock Gun’s n Roses’s Paradise City. They perform at various venues around Los Angeles county.
Another kids’ band from Orange County, The Flip Notes, were a group of brothers where one was thirteen and the rest were under 10. The amazing thing was that their drummer was just five years old and he played like a professional.
There were some talented adult singers as well and they are well known Fil-Am performers and a portion of the show was hosted by two comedians Bo Carnation and Joseph Gelito.
I enjoyed the entertainment and hope to visit some of their other events. Until next time.

On Sept. 18th, 2011 she wore a sari to the Emmy Awards 2011 and was very excited to attend a distinguished event in her field for the first time.
The American actress who had struggled to get a break in the Hollywood industry was awestruck by the glamour and happy to see other performer’s who’s work she admires.

Actress Thushari Jayasekera attended the International Luxury Chocolate Salon at the Pasadena Center on September 25th, 2011 with her mom.
“The gourmet chocolates were awesome and I love anything and everything chocolate, except maybe for fried snake chocolates.” she stated.
