Talented, Columbian designer, Claudia Gonzalez Pruitt, showcased her unique brand Beso Moda in the runway. Beso Moda reflects the style of the modern woman. Pruitt’s extensive training in fashion and textiles has influenced her unique sensibility.

On Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 -The second day of fashion week was hosted by LA’s popular store, Brigade LA. With their eclectic mix of designer brands, Brigade LA is driving downtown fashion into the future. The show also featured the contemporary women’s boho chic collection by XCVI. Using versatile fabrics and thoughtful styling, XCVI fashions clothing for women who believe in style, without sacrificing the luxury of comfort. Style Fashion Week LA Day 2 of fashion was held at the historical Vibiana at 214 Main Street in downtown Los Angeles, CA from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm.

Other designer showcased were Paulie Gibson, Civil Society, and Rudsak. Since 2009, Paulie Gibson designs have graced the glossies, runways, and award ceremonies of the fashion elite. This expertly trained designer creates pieces that reflect opposing forces and concepts. Paulie Gibson’s 2013 collection ‘Blueprint’ will be his largest, most impressive collection to date, promising to be both cutting-edge and unexpected. Founded in 2007 by fashion designer Brad Schwartz, Civil Society is a brand that occupies a unique place in the landscape of American and European design. Civil Society’s Fall/Winter 2013 design inspiration This season was inspired by the “Urban Lumberjack”. We are breaking the boundaries between the classic English country gentleman and the great American outdoorsman while infusing a downtown edge. We achieved this by merging vintage and modern silhouettes and fabrics, resulting in a collection that delivers a casual yet tailored look.

Send one of a Million Smiles this Summer with flowers & gifts starting at $29.99 at 1800flowers.com. - 300x250
An Exclusive Interview by Esteban “Steven” Escobar, Executive Editor-In-Chief from Diversity News Magazine.

The talented Lilly Melgar began her diverse career in television as the charismatic host on shows such as, “Tu Musica“, “Desde Hollywood” and “Ritmo Internacional“.
She made her mark in TV history alongside Ricky Martin, as the first Latin leading couple on Daytime, playing the role of mob daughter/wife Lily Rivera Corinthos, starring opposite Maurice Benard.
After “General Hospital“, she went on to play Claudia Cortez on “The Bold and the Beautiful.”
In 1998 Lilly was nominated for an ALMA Award as Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Soap Opera for “The Bold and the Beautiful”.
After the overwhelming demand for her return by her loyal fans, she returned to “General Hospital” in 2003.
Melgar left television to pursue her film career, with credits including, “Last Call”, “Seasons of Life”, “Americanizing Shelley” and “Hollywood Familia”. Melgar’s latest production is the feature film entitled “When the Cobra Strikes (Black Cobra)”. She  will begin pre-production on “Loteria”, which she will also co-produce.
Currently she is playing the role of Janice Ramos on “The Bay The Series“, a television show which was recently nominated for a 2012 Emmy in the category of Outstanding Special Class Short Format Daytime Program.

Lilly Melgar = LM                                     Esteban Escobar = EE
EE: Lilly, first I want to thank you for taking time from your busy schedule to answer the following questions about your life and career. I’m not sure if you remember me, but my sister Maria Teresa was married at your mother’s home. Your mother was good friends with my mom Maria Maty and she allowed her to have Maria Teresa’s wedding there. Anyway, since I discovered the news and entertainment media I have watched you on the Spanish television networks and I can say that you have done an amazing job. To be honest I have been keeping track of your career and I feel proud and happy knowing how far you have gone in this industry where there is so much competition. Well, let’s get to business. LOL.

EE: Can you please tell us a little bit about your background, starting when and where you were born, what city you grow up in the most, and of course your ethic background?
LM: I was born and raised in LA, and grew up in Downey CA. I’m 100% El Salvadoran and consider myself an Americanized Latina.
EE: Who introduced you the entertainment industry? Is this something you wanted to do from a very young age?
LM: I remember being 6 or 7 years old and saying I wanted to grow up and be a Charlie’s Angel. That dream later blossomed into wanting to grow up and be on General Hospital. A dream that would actually come true.
EE: How? When did you start in the entertainment industry and what was your first gig?
LM: I had won the Ms. El Salvador in LA pageant when a UCLA film graduate offered me the lead in his short film. That was my first opportunity and experience as an actress. The film won best short film that year :)
EE: You started working in the Latino/Hispanic media networks and then you decided to cross over to the American Market? Why did you did it? Do you feel you have been accepted by them? Is that something the anyone can do? Do you feel you have crossed over yet?
LM: I got very VERY LUCKY. It was truly the case of “being at the right place, at the right time” or FATE.  I went to my friend’s concert, you may have heard of him, Ricky Martin? ;)  He had just signed on to do General Hospital (my dream!).
I went backstage to see him and the producers saw us together and wrote me in, making us the first Latin leading couple ever on daytime. We both felt incredibly blessed to have been used to open the doors for Latin actors on daytime.
EE: How was your experience working on The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital TV Series?

LM: Working on General Hospital as stated above was my biggest dream. It was a beautiful and fulfilling experience which I will forever be grateful for. I very much enjoyed my time on The Bold and The Beautiful as well.
EE: What about working on The Bay The Series, the TV Show with Director Gregori J. Martin?
LM: I LOVE working on The Bay. We have an incredible team that’s in it to co-create from a positive and supportive place. We all love what we do and put so much heart into it. I believe it is because of everyone’s hard work and passion that we are getting better and better as a whole.
We were nominated for a Daytime Emmy this year and I can not tell you how GOOD it feels to have been the only web series acknowledged this year. To know that we have been working so hard collectively to create a quality series and for that to pay off is such a blessing.
EE: Can you please tell us what are you currently working on?  What are your future projects?
LM: I recently sold my first film production “Black Cobra” which I also co – directed to Lionsgate. It was released May 22nd, 2012. I have also been directing video content for major concert tours.
I began with directing the opening video for The Spice Girls Reunion Tour. That led me to directing the short films shown throughout the Britney Spears Femme Fatale Tour and directing some video content for Michael Jackson Cirque de Soleil.

Glamour, Glitter, Diamonds and Old Hollywood Style was the scene at the Diamonds Not Fur red carpet and gala benefit held on Saturday, August 27, 2011 at club Voyeur in West Hollywood, CA.

“Even though there has been so much controversy over Betty White in the animal rights community, It was still exciting to see her up close and personal — she is a living legend, and if it helps this cause, I am all for that.” said recording artist and animal activist FAWN.
Fawn continues “I think that the success of the Diamonds Not Fur gala is evidence that change is in the air for a more compassionate world. It was so packed a person couldn’t even move. It is moving to see people from all walks of life come out to just say no to fur! I feel honored to be a small part of this important cause. As a proud rescuer of wolf dogs, as well as other creatures I am passionate about ending the use of fur in this world, once and for all.”
The event was hosted by Katie Cleary, actress/supermodel, event founder and host. The purpose of the event was to raise funds for spcaLA & Animal Alliance in support of Fur Free West Hollywood. Club Voyeur is located at 7969 Santa Monica Boulevard in the City of West Hollywood, CA 90046.
Legendary and TV Icon Betty White goes to the stage and presents “Diamonds Not Fur Humanitarian Award” to spcaLA President, Madeline Bernstein and special performances by The Mad Musician and hit recording artist Fawn.
“I was very pleased with the enthusiastic turn out for the event last evening both in terms of attendees and press showing an interest in the Fur Free WeHo campaign! I am on of Fawn’s biggest fans. I never tire of hearing her sing her hit song “Wish U Love“! said Ellen Lavinthal, President, Animal Alliance, an animal rescue and advocacy organization and Co-organizer, Fur Free WeHo campaign.

“It was an honor and a privilege to attend the Diamonds Not Fur red carpet event to benefit the SCAPLA & Animal Alliance in support of Free Fur WeHo at club Voyeur in West Hollywood. There was a full capacity crowd of several hundred people all night long. I believe about $15 thousand dollars may be even more, was raised during the live auction in less then an hour. It was a great event with free food and drinks and all people enjoying themselves. Television star and humanitarian Betty White was there to support the cause.  What a great spirit and true celebrity she is!” said Dr. Mark Valinsky.
Laura Rebecca Silverman, owner/designer of ArtiZen Beads, hand made an elegant Gold Fill and Swarovski Crystal necklace as a tribute to Old Hollywood Glamor as one of the auction items, which sold. When people commented on her stunning piece she simply said: “It’s an honor to be able to use my talent for animals in need who have no voice of their own.”

City Council Member, John D’Amico announced at the event that the West Hollywood Council will be voting on the ban on the sale of fur apparel on September 19, 2011 and organizers of Fur Free WeHo are encouraging supporters to come out to support this unprecedented ban and watch history being made.
