Singer Miguel Bose To Be Honored As The 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person Of The Year

The Latin Recording Academy® will Host the Star-Studded Tribute at The Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on Wednesday, November 20.
MIAMI (May 8, 2013) — Latin GRAMMY® winner Miguel Bosé has been named the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year it was announced today by The Latin Recording Academy®. Chosen for his philanthropic and professional accomplishments, Bosé will receive the honor at a star-studded concert and tribute gala on Wednesday, Nov. 20 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The celebration will feature many songs from Bose’s catalog performed by an impressive array of notable artists and friends. A portion of the net proceeds from the gala will benefit The Latin Recording Academy’s outreach and education programs. The prestigious event will precede the 14th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards®, which will be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and will be broadcast live on the Univision Network on Thursday, Nov. 21 at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central. With a career that spans more than three decades, Spanish singer, author and actor Miguel Bosé has recorded more than 30 albums, made appearances in more than 35 films and his numerous chart-topping singles, such as “Anna,” “Salamandra,” “Te Amaré,” “Amante Bandido,” “Sevilla,” “Como Un Lobo,” “Morenamía,” and “Si Tu No Vuelves” made him an international pop star. His albums have gone on to receive certified platinum status throughout Latin America, Spain and Europe and he has garnered several awards, including a Latin GRAMMY for his 2001 album Sereno. Throughout his impressive career, Bosé has worked with a vibrant list of talented artists, including Gloria Gaynor, Juan Luis Guerra, Juanes, Malú, Ricky Martin, Laura Pausini, Paulina Rubio, Alejandro Sanz, Shakira, Michael Stipe, and Julieta Venegas.

Over the years, Bosé has not only contributed monetarily to various charitable organizations but has also donated his time, talent and voice to various social projects and environmental causes. Through his Foundation Paz Sin Fronteras (Peace Without Borders), he fights for the right to live in peace and for it to recognized by the United Nations. To bring international awareness to the cause, he organized concerts with various talented artists in places such as Cúcuta (on the border between Colombia and Venezuela) and La Habana, Cuba. In 2009 he joined the CIE Foundation and became the godfather of one of its programs, Aldeas Musicales— schools in indigenous villages that provide education and teach Spanish, a trade and how to play an instrument. Bosé also organizes a grand gala in Barcelona to raise funds for the foundation Fight Against AIDS, an effort for which he was recognized with Aid For Aids’ My Hero Award. Additionally, he is dedicated to protecting marine life through various projects such as Oceana, the largest international organization that focuses on ocean conservation, and the campaign Hugh’s Fish Fight, which is dedicated to protecting dwindling fish stocks. In 2010 he received honorary Colombian citizenship for his efforts towards peace.

As the 2013 Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year honoree, Bosé joins a list of past recipients that includes Plácido Domingo, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernandez, Juan Luis Guerra, Carlos Santana, Shakira, and Caetano Veloso, among many others.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2012 the nominations for the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards® (www.latingrammy.com) were announced today at a press conference attended by national and international media at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles. The event was streamed live on LatinGRAMMY.com (and is now available as video on demand) and was hosted by The Latin Recording Academy® President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa Jr., and Univision television personality Giselle Blondet. As announced earlier this year, each of the four categories in the General Field (Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist) now include 10 nominations; the three categories in the Pop Field (Best Female Pop Vocal Album, Best Male Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Album By A Duo Or Group With Vocal) are now combined into two categories: Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album; Best Pop/Rock Album has been added in the Rock Field; and Best Tropical Fusion Album has been added to the Tropical Field.

This year’s Latin GRAMMY Awards process registered a record-breaking more than 7,500 submissions over a 12-month eligibility period (Jul. 1, 2011 – June. 30, 2012), and all members of The Latin Recording Academy were able to submit entries for consideration through an online entry process for the first time. Latin GRAMMY ballots for the final round of voting will be mailed on Oct. 2 to the voting members of The Latin Recording Academy. They are due back to the accounting firm Deloitte by Oct. 23, when they will be tabulated and the results kept secret until the XIII Latin GRAMMY telecast. This year, for the first time, The Latin Recording Academy and Spotify will be working together to offer voting members and all music fans the opportunity to listen to nominated music for the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards. More details to be announced shortly.

The XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be supported on radio via Univision Radio (the official Spanish-language radio network of the Latin GRAMMY Awards), and highlighted on the Internet at www.latingrammy.com andwww.univisionmusica.com, featuring video interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from today’s nominations announcement. Additionally, the telecast will be distributed internationally to more than 100 countries.

The Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences presents the XIII Annual Latin Grammy Awards Nominations for 2012

On September 25, 2012 at 8:00 a.m. the XIII Annual Grammy Awards nominations were announced at the lovely Belasco Theater located at 1050 South Hill Street in Los Angeles. Each year, The Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc. honors excellence in Latin music internationally. The Academy is an international, membership-based organization comprised of Spanish and Portuguese speaking recording artist, musicians, songwriters, producers and creative technical recording professionals. TheLatinAcademyis dedicated to improving the quality of life for Latin music.

More than 7,500 submissions were sent over a 12-month eligibility period (July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012).  It was registered as a record breaking amount.

A selected amount of artists were chosen to join the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences, Inc., to announce nominations for the year.  Maria  Barracuda (Pop/rock group), Jotdog: Miquel “Slow” Martinez and Carlos “Tostao” Valencia of Latin Grammy, winning singer/songwriter Kany Garcia, Winning pop duo Jesse & Joy, 17-time Latin Grammy winner Juanes, two-time Latin Grammy winner singer/songwriter Gian Marco, winning pop group Reik, Norteno band Los Tucanes de Tijuana, and pop/rock artist Ana Victoria.   Gabriel Abaroa Jr., President/CEO of the Latin Recording Academy and Univision personality Giselle Blondet as well joined the announcers. Some of the announcers also received nominations.  Juanes received four nominations, Jesse & Joy received five, Reik also receive a nomination.  How exciting it was for them to hear their names during the press conference that they have been selected for their music.   Juan Luis Guerra tops the nominations with six.

The official artist selected this year is German Perez. The native Dominican Republic relocated to New York in the 80s which he became involved in pop art and graffiti art movements. He is well known for his versatility in photography, drawing, sculpture, graphics and video and TV production.

The nominations announced today are only a few. There are 47 categories within 18 fields featuring a diverse selection of artist that will be announced when the award show airs November 15, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at the popular Las Vegas Mandalay Bay Event Center.  The show will be broadcast live on the Univision Network. On Friday, August 10, 2012 the stadium at Staples Center in Los Angeles was almost pack with hundreds of Café Tacvba, Enanitos Verdes, Julieta Venegas, Hombres G, Beto Cuevas, Mikel Erentxun, Moderatto and Kinky rock fans

REVENTON SUPER ESTRELLA took place on August 10th at the Staples Center located 1111 S. Figueroa St., in Los Angeles, CA 90015 from 6:00 PM to 12:3o PM.

In prior years REVENTON SUPER ESTRELLA has been the most anticipated music event in Los Angeles and has sold out concerts featuring the hottest Latin artists and performances on one stage. Past Reventón concerts featured superstars like, Enrique Iglesias, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Reik, Juanes, Paulina Rubio, Jaguares, Zoe, Alejandra Guzman, Gloria Trevi and many more.

This year Entravision Communications’ KSSE Super Estrella 107.1 FM radio station celebrated their 15th year anniversary.

Los Angeles, CA – On June 13, 2012 Entravision Communications’ KSSE Super Estrella 107.1 FM radio station announced the musical talent line-up for its annual mega-concert REVENTON SUPER ESTRELLA. This year KSSE is celebrating its 15th year anniversary and the line-up features a list of heavy-weight rock en español artists never before assembled in the U.S.
