Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to attend ServiceNation: Mission Serve in Los Angeles
June 15, 2011 by News Desk

On Wednesday, June 15, 2011 ServiceNation: Mission Serve announced the participation of Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, at a hiring fair and service project at Sony Pictures Studios in Los Angeles, California. Co-hosted by the U.S. and Los Angeles Area Chambers of Commerce, “Hiring our Heroes Los Angeles” will be the biggest of the 100 hiring fairs the Chambers are holding across the country through March of 2012. The Royal Couple will also join a service project – in partnership with Blue Star Families and the USO – to create 1,000 care packages for military children, as well as attend a special reception for supporters and champions of the cause. The Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry is The Princes’ primary charitable vehicle and has as one of its core aims to raise awareness and support for the Servicemen and women who put their lives on the line for their Country. A key part of this focus will be to assist efforts to ensure the best possible re-integration and employment of veterans and military families.
The Foundation recognizes the tremendous work being done on this in the United States, led by The First Lady and Dr. Biden through their Joining Forces initiative. As a result, The Foundation is delighted to be partnering with ServiceNation: Mission Serve for the Veteran and Military Spouse Hiring Fair and Service project. Foundation Chief Executive Nick Booth said, “The Servicemen and women of this country have fought alongside our colleagues from the United States, and this is a great opportunity to explore ways we might also be able to work together on the key task of re-integration. We hope to be able to learn from all the tremendous work that is being done, as well as be able to support through the Foundation projects that help ensure veterans and military families have the best possible support as they re-enter civilian life.” Mrs. Patty Shinseki, a military spouse for 38 years and an Advisor to Joining Forces – the campaign launched recently by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden – will also be serving that day.
Mission Serve, ServiceNation’s civilian-military initiative, is a network of organizations dedicated to bringing together civilian and military communities through service and volunteerism. “We are absolutely thrilled that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will join us in supporting and engaging our nation’s heroes in the workplace and in service,” said ServiceNation Executive Director Greg Propper. “We are working to inspire a powerful culture of service in America, and the July 10 hiring fair and service project offers a tremendous advancement in this effort.” Taking place on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 9:00am – 4:0opm, the hiring fair is set to make a significant difference in the state of California, with over 100,000 veterans seeking jobs in California alone. The U.S. and Los Angeles Area Chambers of Commerce are working closely with ServiceNation: Mission Serve, Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training and Service (DOL VETS), Department of Defense’s Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Employment Development Department (EDD) of the State of California, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and United Way of Los Angeles, to ensure this is a premier event for the 200 employers and 1500 veterans and military spouses attending. As host and a primary sponsor for the event at their historic Culver City, Ca. studio lot, Sony Pictures has long been committed to Corporate Social Responsibility. Michael Lynton, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, and Amy Pascal, Co-Chairman, Sony Pictures Entertainment, said: “It is an honor to have Their Royal Highnesses and ServiceNation: Mission Serve here on our historic studio lot to help veterans and military spouses find work, an especially urgent task in this economy. We all owe a great debt of gratitude to veterans and military families for their sacrifices, and so we are proud to play a small role in this great mission.” For individuals who would like to support Mission Serve, please text MISSION to 85944 to donate $10.
Companies or individuals that are interested in sponsorship opportunities should contact Greg Propper at gpropper@bethechangeinc.org or 323-964-9542. For employers that would like to take part in this unique opportunity to connect with veterans and military spouses, register on-line at http://www.regonline.com/HiringHeroesinLA.
Participating employers should have job opportunities available and will be expected to report the following metrics to the U.S. Chamber of Commerce after the hiring fair: number of applications received; number of veterans and military spouses offered jobs; and most importantly, the number of veterans and spouses hired by your company.
About ServiceNation: Mission Serve:
(www.missionserve.org), led by Operation Enduring Freedom-veteran Ross Cohen, is the civilian-military initiative of ServiceNation, a campaign to increase service opportunities and elevate service as a core ideal and problem-solving strategy in our society. Mission Serve connects civilian and military communities through a broad array of service and volunteer partnerships, designed to address the challenges of our nation and our military communities. The initiative’s two strategic goals include engaging civilians, active duty/retired military personnel and military families to meet the many critical needs of our nation and, in particular, the needs of the military community; as well as integrating our nation’s military community into service alongside the civilian community. On Veterans Day 2009, First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, and Mrs. Alma Powell joined Mission Serve in Washington, DC to launch our efforts at The George Washington University, celebrating 36 civilian-military service partnerships. Mission Serve’s Founding Chair, Colonel Rob Gordon (US Army Ret.), currently serves as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Community and Family Policy.

Chef Francois Sarrafi is no Longer with Ingrid’s/Bistro Café in Beverly Hills, CA
March 5, 2011 by Esteban Escobar
Filed under Breaking News, Community, Featured, News
On Friday, March 4, 2011 Ingrid’s Bistro Café announced that Chef Francois Sarrafi is no longer with Ingrid’s/Bistro Café, the fine Mediterranean Cuisine restaurant.

Chef Francois was with Ingrid’s Café, also known as Ingrid’s Bistro, for only two months. He was hired after answering an advertisement posted on kijiji-Los Angeles and his last day was January 29, 2011. As always, firm owners, management and the public relations firm wish him the best of luck.
Many loyal fans may wonder what will happen to the exclusive, fantastic, exquisite food at Ingrid’s Café. Well, sometimes the owner must wear multiple hats and that’s the response we have received from Ingrid. She has worn two hats in the past, as the owner and chef. Because of the current situation, the owner/chef Ingrid will take over again and will give you, the customer, some of the best exclusive flavor, taste and love to enjoy.
Per Ms. Bedrosian, Chef Francois’ departure will not in any way or shape affect restaurant operations because the menu was created by Ingrid and there will be even more exciting items introduced very soon.
“Our restaurant currently serves authentic and gourmet Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of French in a casual bistro setting. Our carefully crafted menu, extensive wine selection, impeccable service, and elegant, yet cozy, atmosphere brings the best of Euro/Mediterranean to your dining experience. Our constantly-evolving menu is based on the freshest and organic ingredients available, yet we make sure to offer the favorites that our patrons have been enjoying for years.” Said Ingrid Bedrosian, Owner/Chef.
As of now, Ingrid’s Café/Bistro Owner may consider hiring a new chef, but hopes to find someone like herself who truly enjoys cooking and can introduce new elegant dishes. Until then, she will take over for you to continue enjoying the best of Ingrids/Bistro Café Beverly Hills.
About Ingrid’s Bedrosian: Her passion in cooking and baking started at the age of 8 and since then it was her dream to have a small place where she can share her love of cooking for others. It gives her a great pleasure to see people keep coming back and enjoying the fresh, organic food she serves and It is for her truly labor of love.

Her joy of cooking and baking for others is unlimited and you can taste the labor of love in every bite. All products are fresh and organic and arranged very elegantly.
In the fall of 2010, it was decided to introduce new menu, new hours and much more European and Mediterranean food with a French flair. This change was long overdue and was requested by many of the guests, hotels and local businesses. Their great advice was taken, and Ingrid’s opened for lunch and dinner. Ingrid’s also offers a very minimum corkage charge if you want to bring your own wine bottle. You will also be visited by a very nice and professional bartender for cocktail drinks.

Recording Artist Moby Performed for Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine

Grammy Nominated Electronic and Pop Recording Artist Moby performed a 30 minute acoustic set in Beverly Hills on February 12, 2010 for the PCRM (Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine) Fundraiser to a crowd of around 300 people.
Guests were shuttled up to the private estate of James Costa, a long time animal rights advocate with tickets going for $50 and the event running from 6-10pm. PCRM is a nonprofit organization founded in 1985 which has led the way for reforms in federal nutrition policies. Opposed to unethical human experiments, they promote and offer alternatives to animal research and testing. About an hour after the fundraiser began, a slide show was shown, with frightening statistics given on the obesity rate in children, stating that 1 in 3 children are now obese and 1 in 5 teens have abnormal cholesteral levels. Data showed a correlation of eating meat with these facts. The average American now eats 75 pounds more meat and 30 pounds more cheese each year, compared to a century ago. PCRM showed a new chart, called the “Power Plate” with four equal corners of Fruits, Grains, Legumes and Vegetables, promoted as “the well-rounded diet that could save your life” from the thepowerplate.org.
The slide show also discussed important animal issues at hand, as well as recent triumphs due to the tenacity, passion and compassion of PCRM. There were disturbing photos of a small squirrel monkey being squished into a narrow tube to be flown up into space for testing of the affects of ionizing radiation to simulate hazards of interplanetary space travel. When the photo was shown of the helpless animal, several gasps were heard in the crowd. Moments later the gasps turned to sighs as the guests were informed that PCRM was able to convince NASA to cancel the proposed monkey radiation experiments.
Shortly after the slide show and stories of triumphs and future areas of concern were shared, recording artist Moby performed an acoustic set. Although his performance was interrupted after just one song by Ady Gil who offered 2 all access Grammy passes, eventually selling to the highest bidder for $8,000, Moby seemed to take the auction intrusion in stride. Once continuing his set, he commented in between songs regarding the continual talking, asking people to go downstairs to chat. Moby played both guitar and piano during his performances, with the highlight being his vocal / acoustic guitar rendition of “Ring Of Fire” originally recorded by the late Johnny Cash.
Notables in attendance were Film makers Shaun Monson and Charles Hambleton, Recording Artists Moby, Fawn and Persia White, Book Authors Rory Freedman and Karen Dawn, Shannon Mann, Jane Valez-Mitchell, Patty Shenker, Ady Gil, Ellen Lavinthal, Robin Torme’, Kristin Bauer, Cindy Landon, Jennifer Landon, Chris DeRose, Libra Max and a host of others.
