Super Model Actor Sam Sarpong and Vanessa Curry spotted in Beverly Hills

On Wednesday, December 5, 2012, supermodel and actor Sam Sarpong, and former Lakers girl/current Pussycat Doll Vanessa Curry (designer, singer and entertainer) were spotted walking and visiting high end stores in Beverly Hills.

Later, they told Paparazzi that they were doing a behind the scenes clothing line with Vanessa Curry and wearing designer Kathleen Largent (Kathleen has traveled throughout the world as a product developer for U.S. and International companies such as Veneto, Yashiro, VBH, Kenneth Cole, Guess, Borelli, Sirco and Brighton. She has combined her expertise, experience and passion for design, to launch her newest and most exciting venture to date: KD LUXE Jewelry and Accessories) from KD Luxe Jewelry (KD Luxe Jewelry is on the cutting edge, combining wearable technology, and fusing fashion and functionality. Each of her inspirational pieces are embedded with wearable technology).

“KD Luxe Jewelry was based on pure inspiration to reach for the stars, go after your dreams. It’s all about being positive and good energy will attract around you”, said Sam Sarpong, super model and actor.

While doing the photo shoot in Beverly Hills, Sam and Vanessa found themselves surrounded by fans and tourists/visitors taking photos, asking for autographs and even taking videos with their cameras and cell phones of them.

Sam and Vanessa did couple photos shoot modeling clothes, jewelry and in and outside of a sport car from Mirani Motors known as world class automotive customs. Also took couple photos on a motorcycle including inside the TMZ bus. One of the funny things was when the driver of tourists StarLine bus stop to take a photo of Sam Sarpong and Vanessa Curry.

“The cross that we had (Sam and Vanessa) on them is to focus on motivation and determination. Kathleen Largent created in honor of her father who she always told him, she was going to do this line so he’s the motivation behind that.” concluded Mr. Sarpong.
Sam is the current host of AXS Live, Ryan Seacrest’s new show. He will be releasing his EP “Lose My Mind” this month. Next year he will appear in the series “Average Dad.” In this series, he co-stars with actor Brent Goldberg and Jamie Pressly. He plays a young, hot dad where all of his children’s teachers have a crust on him.

About Sam Sarpong: Born in London, England, UK, Samuel Osei Sarpong is an English actor who has starred in several films. Samuel is of Akan descent.

Registration for 2013 Los Angeles Marathon Begins October 1, 2012

Growing Popularity of Iconic Stadium to the Sea Course Expected to Result in Early Sellout.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., October 1, 2012—Registration for the 2013 LA Marathon opened today, with race officials anticipating an early sellout due to growing popularity of the Stadium to the Sea course nationally and internationally. As a result of overwhelming demand, marathon officials are capping this year’s race to ensure a world-class experience for every participant. The 2013 event will take place on Sunday, March 17.

The LA Marathon’s expanding charity effort and a new international tourism program are expected to account for thousands of runners from across the United States and from countries including Australia, Japan, South Africa, Germany, England, France and Canada. The pre-registration commitments from these groups coupled with the increased demand from capped registration are expected to result in robust sign-ups and an early sellout of the 2013 race.

“The popularity of the LA Marathon worldwide is growing, and we’re beginning to see the kind of pre-registration demand experienced by only a select few races around the world,” said LA MARATHON LLC Chief Operating Officer Nick Curl.  “The fantastic Stadium to the Sea course, the draw of Los Angeles and the LA Marathon’s commitment to providing a world-class experience are contributing to the excitement around this race.  I have a simple message:  Sign-up now and don’t be left behind.”

Beginning today and for a limited time, the LA Marathon is offering a $145 registration fee – the lowest price that runners will be able to secure for the 2013 race, good only through October 31. Participants may register on the LA Marathon’s website, www.lamarathon.com.

When runners register for the marathon, they may also sign up for the race’s official training program, LA Roadrunners, which is led by elite running coach Andrew Kastor and combines training with an educational program to help participants fulfill their marathon goals. The program is open to all levels of runners and still has available spots.

“We recommend that runners start training this month to begin preparing for the 2013 LA Marathon, and we encourage runners to register for the race early,” Kastor said.

Runners also have the opportunity to get involved in the Marathon’s growing “I Run 4 Something” charity campaign, which reached new heights in 2012 as participants raised more than $3 million for more than 70 causes. Also returning is the charity relay, which debuted in 2012, enabling a team of two to participate in the marathon as a relay, with each taking half of the course.

The 2013 LA Marathon will be the fourth running of the wildly popular Stadium to the Sea course, which gives marathon runners a unique opportunity to see the beauty and diversity of Los Angeles while racing  from Dodger Stadium to the Pacific Ocean, passing many of L.A.’s world-famous landmarks along the way. Among the highlights are Walt Disney Concert Hall, Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, the Capitol Records Building, Sunset Strip, Rodeo Drive and the Santa Monica Pier.

“Our Stadium to the Sea course is second to none, and we are committed to making sure each runner has a world-class experience.  We can’t wait to showcase the wonderful neighborhoods and icons of Los Angeles in the 2013 race, and we appreciate the partnership of the cities of Los Angeles, West Hollywood, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, along with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, in making this world-class marathon route possible,” Curl said.

ABOUT LA MARATHON LLC: We inspire athletes and connect communities.  With thousands of volunteers, tens of thousands of participants, and hundreds of thousands of spectators, the LA Marathon is one of the largest organized road races in the country. The Stadium to the Sea course, which starts at Dodger Stadium and finishes by the Santa Monica Pier, is considered one of the most scenic in the world. Unique among major road races, it passes through four cities and federal property.

An Open Letter to Billy Crystal host of 84th Annual Academy Awards from a Black Woman in Beverly Hills

340x240 - NOOK Tablet™ 8GB
After all the glamours, glitter, red carpet, fancy clothes, jewelry, make up and the Oscar Awards comes a reality check. Does Billy Crystal crossed the lines at the 84th Annual Academy Awards Ceremony?

Please read what we received from one of our readers about the 84th Annual Academy Awards telecast. Feel free to leave your comments about stereotype or discrimination on African Americans who have contributed so much to enrich our society.

The Academy needs to become more Diverse and that is why we exist and created our company Diversity News Publications publisher of Diversity News Magazine. Once again in case you forgot remember the definition of “Diversity” which reads: “The beauties of nature come in all colors. The strengths of humankind come in many forms. Every human being is wonderfully unique. All of us contribute in different ways. When we learn to honor the difference, and appreciate the mix. We find harmony.”

An Open Letter to Billy Crystal
Monday, February 27, 2012
Dear Mr. Crystal,
Let me first begin by congratulating you on a successful 37 year career span in the entertainment industry. I feel comfortable assuming that during that time, you’ve faced some challenges as well as obvious success. Nonetheless, you’ve managed to figure “it” out and for that, kudos.
I believe it’s safe to say that most Americans have heard about the racist slur you made after the commercial break in regards to best supporting Oscar winner Octavia Spenser’s emotional and moving acceptance speech while hosting the 2012 Academy Awards on Sunday, February 26, 2012.
In case you are unclear as to the remark I am referring to, you said:
“That moment for Octavia is what the Oscars is all about. That was pretty amazing… and I loved that movie a lot when I saw it. When I came out of The Help, I wanted to hug the first black woman that I saw, which from Beverly Hills is about a 45 minute drive…”
That comment left me staring at my television screen in disbelief until one of my very close friends – recording artist, author and reality show personality, Norwood Young called after hearing the same disrespectful, tasteless remark and was equally as outraged by the irresponsibility of you, the writers and producers of the Academy.
It was during that telephone conversation that we decided that we COULD NOT and WOULD NOT allow this matter to be “swept under the rug” and go unnoticed.
Norwood also had this to say: “In the opening of the Oscar telecast, Billy Crystal did a full “blackface” type parody of his famous Sammy Davis Jr. impersonation. Initially, I did not take offense because Eddie Murphy is indeed famous for doing the same in some of his past films, (when he dons full prosthetics to become his famous white Jewish character). However, Billy Crystal in 20 years has never presented his “Sammy” character as a “supposed black man” until the Oscars 2012. After hearing the “Beverly Hills” statement made, there was an immediate shift in my attitude and overview of the presentation, and its initial intent. Ironically, the Internet is buzzing more about the despising of the “blackface” than the “Beverly Hills” reference -both are unacceptable!
A New York Times writer made a valid point in his printed article today in regards to your blatant, disrespectful statement. He said that “Crystals’ statement would have been possibly humorous and true in 1939; the year black actress Hattie McDaniels won her best supporting actress Oscar. However, today it has no relevancy or humor at all.” This is evidence of the racist and irresponsible mind set of many.
Very recently, on February 5th 2012, Roland Martin, an African American CNN/TV-One analyst and journalist, commented on an underwear advertisement featuring the English Association Footballer – David Beckham (on his personal Twitter Account) stating “If a dude at your Super Bowl party is hyped about David Beckham’s H&M underwear ad, smack the ish out of him!” GLAAD (the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) responded very negatively and demanded an apology from Martin. Not only did he apologize, but he was also suspended by CNN!  Mr. Young knows Mr. Martin personally, and knows that he is emphatically not homophobic; however feels he was obviously wrong in making the assumption that he could make such a statement in jest on his personal Twitter account without consequence.
That being said, on behalf of every African American man and woman on this planet, whether they live in Compton, Inglewood, Long Beach, Palos Verdes, Beverly Hills or Timbuktu, we believe that a public apology from yourself and the Oscar Academy at the very least is appropriate!
By the way, both Norwood and I ARE black – Norwood lives in Beverly Hills and though not immediate, we are neighbors. So, in addition to your comment being ridiculous at the expense of a laugh (that didn’t happen), it simply was unjustifiable and not true! You should be ashamed of yourself for giving 1 billion viewers the impression that black people don’t live in Beverly Hills and that we are indeed segregated, with no sight of “us” within 45 minutes! If this was not your intention, so be it, however now that you have been made aware of a vast consensus of the anger and pain you have caused, I would expect you to make your wrong right.
It is a disgrace that on this rare historical occasion, (African American nominees in both Best Actress and Best Supporting actress categories) has been marred and associated with controversy and disrespect.
