The winners were announced, but the star studded celebration will air Friday, September 21, 2012 (8-9 p.m. ET) on NBC.

The NCLR Alma Awards honors outstanding Latino artistic achievements in television, film and music.  The show promotes the achievements of talented Latinos in the entertainment industry.

The funny George Lopez and the lovely Eva Longoria hosted once again this year’s extravagate event.  The one-hour special will show case Latinos famous presenters Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicole Richie, Robert Rodriguez, Zoe Saldana, Ryan Lochte, America Ferrera, Andy Garcia, Natalie Morales and Wilmer Valderrama.

Many media outlets and photographers crowded the red carpet waiting for the celebrities, Olympic winners, and hosts to arrive. One by one, limos stopped in front of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium to drop off talent. As the performers, host, and celebrities hit the red carpet, lines of media and photographer wait to interview or take their picture.

Christina Aguilera received the 2012 NCLR Special Achievement Award for her outstanding career and work in philanthropy.  She is especially well known for co-hosting “The Voice”. Christina’s powerful voice made her well know around the world.  Also, Mr. Henry Darrow received the NCLR Alma Ricardo Montalban Lifetime Achievement Award. “Henry has appeared in some five hundred episodes of soap operas, mini-series, sit-coms, and dramas, along with numerous stage plays. He is the first Latino actor to have portrayed “Zorro” in two different television series, as well as providing the voice for a cartoon version of the masked hero. What an honor it is for the NCLR to recognize these two talented people who made a difference in the Latino culture.

There was a great selection of nominees, besides Christina Aguilera and Henry Darrow, the following took home the precious award.

Latinos love music, which brings celebration. Rap singer Flo Rida performed with Roselyn Sanchez.  The guests were welcome to dance in the isle. Martina McBride performed with Luis Fonsi.

In addition, the NCLR welcomed our talented Latino Olympians. Few came out to walk the red carpet and enjoyed the fun filled show.  We honor those Latinos such as Brenda Villa and Jessica Steffens (water polo), Danell Leyva (men’s gymnastics), Leonel Manzano (track and field), and Marlen Esparza (boxing), and the famous United States swimmer, Ryan Lochte for representing our country.

The Latinos celebrate with love. There is no other award show that represents talent in the Latino culture. You do not want to miss the winner’s excitement when they receive their accomplished award with honors.  If you like to contact NCLR, please feel free to go to www.nclr.org.

Dick Clark Dies of Heart Attack at Age 82, Rest In Peace

Dick Clark Productions
It is a very sad day today to write and report about a very important person and known as a Rock n’ roll icon, TV personality, radio pioneer and media producer mogul Dick Clark who died on Wednesday, April 18th of a heart attack following a medical procedure at Saint John’s Health Center in Santa Monica, California at age 82. Dick Clark is survived by his wife Kari, and his three children Richard Augustus II, Duane, and Cindy.

“Michelle and I are saddened to hear about the passing of Dick Clark.  With “American Bandstand,” he introduced decades’ worth of viewers to the music of our times.  He reshaped the television landscape forever as a creative and innovative producer.  And, of course, for 40 years, we welcomed him into our homes to ring in the New Year.  But more important than his groundbreaking achievements was the way he made us feel – as young and vibrant and optimistic as he was.  As we say a final “so long” to Dick Clark, America’s oldest teenager, our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends – which number far more than he knew.” said USA President Barack Obama.

“One of the real draws when we purchased Dick Clark Productions was the opportunity to build on the tremendous foundation of programming that this icon of American broadcasting created. I got to know Dick over the past five years and he was just as personable and warm in person as he was on television.  Once you got to know Dick, it was obvious why he was so beloved by his fans.  He was in every sense of the word, a giant. Dick Clark will be sorely missed.  He was truly one of a kind. said Daniel M. Snyder, Chairman, Dick Clark Productions.

“Dick Clark was an American institution.  He was able to replicate the magic he brought to American Bandstand, not once but several times, through The Golden Globes, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve and thousands of hours of programming in almost every genre imaginable.  He was the first of his kind — a pioneer, entrepreneur and creative visionary who bridged and cultivated the music scene with traditional show business. Dick Clark entertained and touched the lives of several generations.  He is truly irreplaceable and will be greatly missed by the employees of our company and millions of fans worldwide.” said Mark Shapiro, Chief Executive Officer, Dick Clark Productions.

“I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend Dick Clark. He has truly been one of the greatest influences in my life. I idolized him from the start, and I was graced early on in my career with his generous advice and counsel. When I joined his show in 2006, it was a dream come true to work with him every New Year’s Eve for the last six years. He was smart, charming, funny and always a true gentleman. I learned a great deal from him, and I’ll always be indebted to him for his faith and support of me. He was a remarkable host and businessman and left a rich legacy to television audiences around the world. We will all miss him.” said Ryan Seacrest, American radio personality, television host, network producer and voice actor.

“DICK CLARK ♥ Thank you for all the memories and for being a stable force in our lives. You will be missed! Rest in Peace beautiful soul ♥.” said Hit Recording Artist and Composer Fawn.

“Recording Academy Trustees Award recipient Dick Clark was an entertainment icon, bringing music into the homes of millions of Americans over his nearly 60-year career. His shows “American Bandstand” and “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” blazed new trails in pop music and became pivotal celebrations of music on television, spotlighting both established and emerging artists. Our deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to his family, friends, fans, and all who have enjoyed his great contributions to music and entertainment. He will be terribly missed, and his legacy will live on forever.” said Neil Portnow, President/CEO, The Recording Academy.

About Dick Clark:
Richard Wagstaff ”Dick“ Clark[2] (November 30, 1929 – April 18, 2012) was a widely recognized American radio and television personality, best known for hosting television’s longest-running variety show, American Bandstand, from 1957 to 1987. He also hosted the game show Pyramid, and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, which beamed Times Square‘s New Year’s Eve celebrations worldwide.

As host of American Bandstand, with his unparalleled communication skills, he is credited with being a “primary force in legitimizing rock ‘n roll,” not just to teenagers, but also to parents. The show gave countless new music artists their first exposure to national audiences, among whom were Ike and Tina TurnerSmokey Robinson and the MiraclesStevie Wonder, the Talking Heads and Simon and Garfunkel. His shows were among the first where blacks and whites performed on the same stage and the live audience seating was desegregated. Singer Paul Anka claims that his show was responsible for creating a “youth culture,” and due to his youthful appearance, Clark was often referred to as “America’s oldest teenager.”

As a successful businessperson,[3] he served as chairman and chief executive officer of Dick Clark Productions, which he sold part of late in his life. He also founded the restaurant chain, “American Bandstand Diner,” modeled after the Hard Rock Cafe. Beginning in 1973, he created and produced the annual American Music Awards show, similar to the Grammy Awards.

Clark suffered a significant stroke in late 2004. With speech ability still impaired, Clark returned to his New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show on December 31, 2005/January 1, 2006. Subsequently, he appeared at the Emmy Awards on August 27, 2006, and every New Year’s Rockin’ Eve show through the 2011/2012 show. Clark died on April 18, 2012 at the age of 82 after suffering a heart attack following a medical procedure.[4] After his death, President Obama credited him with making “us feel as young and vibrant and optimistic as he was.”[5]

IMPORTANT NOTE: Awards counts for artists reflect categories in which they have been recognized as individuals or as part of their duo or group. In some cases, an artist may receive more than one nomination which factors into their official count. For example, Kenny Chesney received two nominations in the Album of the Year category—one each as artist and producer—because that category recognizes both.

In addition, the Song of the Year category recognizes the artist, composer and publishing company as a nominee but does not recognize an individual as owner or partial owner of the publishing company.

Award recipients in each category are noted above parenthetically in the Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year.

Andy Cohen from Bravo & Giuliana Rancic from E News to co-host The 2012 Miss USA Competition Sunday, June 3, 2012

macys.com
On Thursday, March 8, 2012 NBC, Donald J. Trump and Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization, announced that the “2012 MISS USA® Competition” will air LIVE on NBC Sunday, June 3 from 9 to 11 p.m. ET from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas at the Theatre of the Performing Arts. Andy Cohen, host and executive producer of Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live” and Giuliana Rancic, co-anchor of “E! News,” will host the competition.

“The city of Las Vegas, one of the most exciting cities in the world, will once again set the stage for the Miss USA competition, giving 51 of the most beautiful women in the country a chance to win the coveted title of Miss USA,” said Mr. Trump. “Planet Hollywood has consistently rolled out the red carpet for our contestants and it is natural for us to host the pageant there.”

Last year, the 2011 MISS USA® Competition on NBC was the #1 show of the night in the target primetime demographic of adults 18-49 and numerous other key demographics.

“The Miss USA competition is one of our favorite summer specials and we look forward to an exciting event live from Las Vegas this June,” said Doug Vaughan, SVP of Special Programs and Late Night for NBC.

The 2012 MISS USA® Competition will feature contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Contestants will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. The show concludes with one contestant ultimately being crowned Miss USA 2012.

Adds Shugart: “Not only will we have the hottest show on the strip the night of June 3, but we are excited to welcome back Andy Cohen and Giuliana Rancic as hosts. Andy and Giuliana’s charisma and energy are a great fit for us, and it was obvious they had a lot of fun together at Miss USA last year. We are happy to have them back.”

Andy Cohen is the host and executive producer of “Watch What Happens Live (WWHL),” Bravo’s late night, interactive talk show now airing five nights a week and featuring guests from some of Bravo’s most popular series, as well as from the world of entertainment, politics and pop culture. For last year’s 2011 Miss USA competition, WWHL aired live immediately after the telecast making it the first time the show did a live remote broadcast outside of New York City. In addition to his hosting duties, he is also the executive vice president of development and talent for Bravo and serves as executive producer for “Top Chef” and “The Real Housewives” franchise.

Giuliana Rancic is a co-anchor of “E! News” and host of E!’s hugely popular “Fashion Police.” She is also the executive producer/star of her hit Style Network reality show, “Giuliana & Bill.” Rancic can also be seen co-hosting “Live From the Red Carpet” specials, including the Golden Globes and the Academy Awards.

Also returning as executive producers of the telecast are dick clark productions (dcp) led by Barry Adelman. Last year marked the first time the telecast incorporated a fan vote revealing the 16th contestant, along with a new technology enabling viewers to play “virtual judges” from their home.

The program concluded with Alyssa Campanella, Miss California, being crowned Miss USA 2011. During her reign, she represented the USA in the 2011 MISS UNIVERSE® Competition held in São Paulo, Brazil placing in the Top 16. She has been active in raising awareness for breast and ovarian cancer as well helping promote the USO Wishbook in support of our troops. Campanella has also made numerous TV appearances; most notably as a contestant on Food Network’s “Rachael vs Guy Celebrity Cook-Off’ and as a presenter on NBC’s “American Giving Awards.”

The Miss USA telecast now reaches approximately 90 countries and territories. For more information, visit www.missusa.com.
