Since her debut in 2000, P!nk (Alecia Moore) has released seven albums (“Can’t Take Me Home,” “M!ssundaztood,” “Try This,” “I’m Not Dead,” “Funhouse,” “Greatest Hits So Far!!!,” “The Truth About Love”), sold over 40 million albums, 65 million singles (nearly 20 million digital tracks), over 1 million DVDs worldwide and has had 12 singles in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart

Pitbull’s new single, “Don’t Stop the Party,” is gaining heavy momentum on the radio and video charts and will be featured on his upcoming “Global Warming” album on November 19, the highly anticipated follow-up to “Planet Pit,” which earned critical acclaim and enjoyed commercial success with sales of more than 1.4 million albums and 18 million singles. “Don’t Stop the Party” comes on the heels of Pitbull’s 2 million-selling single, “Back in Time,” the chart-topping anthem from the action-adventure-comedy “Men in Black 3.” To complement his worldwide success as an artist, Pitbull is also a burgeoning businessman with his own line of premium, low-calorie vodka, Voli, equity partner in the iconic food franchise that shares his Miami roots, The New Miami Subs Grill, and a partnership with Sheets, the dissolvable energy strip. Taylor Swift’s fourth studio album, “Red,” was just released this week to strong sales and rave reviews. Her 2010 album, “Speak Now,” was lauded on Rolling Stone’s prestigious 50 Greatest Albums of All Time (by women) list, and Time magazine has named Swift one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World. She is Billboard’s Woman of the Year, the reigning American Music Awards Artist of the Year, and both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music’s current Entertainer of the Year. She is also the most awarded star in the history of the Teen Choice Awards, taking home honors for both music and movies. Swift, who writes all of her own songs, has career record sales in excess of 22 million albums and 50 million song downloads. Each of her three studio albums has sold in excess of 5 million copies worldwide, and “Speak Now” is one of only 17 albums in the history of music to sell more than 1 million copies in a single week. She has had singles top both country and pop radio charts around the globe, is one of the top 5-selling digital music artists
Nicki Minaj released her album “Pink Friday” in November 2010, peaking at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 and being certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) a month after its release. She became the first female solo artist to have seven singles on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time. Her seventh single, “Super Bass,” has since been certified quadruple-platinum by the RIAA, and has sold more than 4 million copies, becoming one of the best-selling singles in the U.S. Minaj released her second album, “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” in April 2012, which topped charts internationally, also spawning the Top-10 singles “Starships” and “Pound the Alarm.” Since then the album has become one of the best-selling albums of 2012, according to the Nielsen SoundScan, selling 1 million copies worldwide. In 2012 Minaj embarked on two worldwide tours, the Pink Friday Tour and the Pink Friday: Reloaded Tour.

Since 2000, when Linkin Park debuted on the Billboard 200, no other artist has had more Top 10 singles on the Alternative chart and, with the release of their latest album, “Living Things” (Machine Shop Recordings/Warner Bros), which reached No. 1 in over 20 countries, no other band has achieved more No. 1 albums this century. Platinum-Selling Global Megastar Mariah Carey Joins “American Idol” as new Judge

On Monday, July 23, 2012 Fox announced that Mariah Carey, one of the best-selling female recording artists of all time, has joined AMERICAN IDOL as a new judge. A five-time Grammy Award-winning global superstar with more than 200 million records sold worldwide and more No. 1 songs than any solo artist in history, her 18 Billboard No. 1 singles (17 of which Carey wrote) rival all but The Beatles. Carey joins the judges’ panel when AMERICAN IDOL returns in January 2013 on FOX.

“As a singer, songwriter and producer, it’s going to be fun and rewarding to help find new talent and give back with AMERICAN IDOL,” said Mariah Carey. “I’m currently in the studio working on my new album and its first single, ‘Triumphant,’ which will be out early next month. I can’t wait to channel my creative energy as a part of this show which is a massive global phenomenon.”

“We are proud to have one of the world’s greatest-ever female singers join our show,” said IDOL creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. “Mariah defines the word ‘Idol’ and will inspire every singer that has the honor of performing in front of her.”

“Mariah Carey is a global icon whose list of musical accomplishments is unprecedented,” said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia. “Having sold more than 200 million records worldwide, she’s a true artist, ideally suited to identify and nurture AMERICAN IDOL’s next great music superstars. We warmly welcome her to the IDOL family.”

“Mariah Carey is the real deal. Not only is she one of the best-selling artists and performers on the planet and one of the world’s most gifted vocalists, she also is a successful songwriter, record producer and actress,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company. “She has a deep knowledge of music and a career insight that will make her a really amazing asset to our judges’ table and to our contestants. It’s the dream of almost everyone who auditions for IDOL to sing like Mariah and we couldn’t be happier to have her be part of the show.”

With a distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting and producing talent, Carey has defined the modern pop performance. As a singer/songwriter/producer, she has been recognized with five Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, Billboard’s Artist of the Decade Award, the World Music Award for World’s Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium and BMI’s Icon Award, to name a few. She has two consecutive and unparalleled Billboard Song of the Decade titles: “One Sweet Day” (with Boyz II Men); and “We Belong Together,” further marking her massive presence on the charts since her 1990 song debut “Vision of Love.” Mariah became the second artist in history and the first female performer to have a song debut at No. 1 with “Fantasy” (1995), the groundbreaking collaboration with O.D.B. of the innovative rap group Wu-Tang Clan. Carey’s original holiday classic, “All I Want For Christmas is You,” redefined its place in pop culture as one of the greatest holiday hits of all time when it reached

No. 1 on the Billboard charts in 2011, 17 years after its debut. Carey’s influential and stellar contribution to the music industry spans multiple genres and is showcased through a multifaceted hit catalogue as well as a long list of diverse collaborations.

Carey’s ongoing impact transcends the music industry and has left an indelible imprint upon the world at large. She recently made a substantial mark in film with her critically acclaimed role as a social worker in “Precious,” the 2009 film based on the novel “Push,” by Sapphire. A Congressional Award recipient, Carey has generously donated her time and energy to a range of domestic and international philanthropic causes near to her heart, including The Fresh Air Fund/Camp Mariah (a retreat where inner-city children explore career development), Save the Music Foundation and Make-a-Wish Foundation, among several others.

Carey is currently in the studio, writing, recording and executive-producing her next album for Island Def Jam Music Group, with the lead single “Triumphant.”

AMERICAN IDOL has been the No. 1 entertainment program among Total Viewers for the past nine consecutive seasons. To date, IDOL alums have produced 349 No. 1 Billboard hits and garnered nearly 250 million iTunes downloads. Last year, Season 10 winner Scotty McCreery released his debut album “Clear As Day,” which dominated the Billboard Country Albums chart and has gone platinum, selling more than one million copies. Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips’ first single, “Home,” which was released May 23, has been certified gold.

BREAKING NEWS: Steven Tyler Quits as Judge of American Idol on broadcast on FOX

On Thursday, July 12, 2012, Fox announced that Steven Tyler has decided to depart his role as a judge on AMERICAN IDOL. Tyler served as a judge during the 10th and 11th seasons of IDOL.

“After some long…hard…thoughts…I’ve decided it’s time for me to let go of my mistress ‘American Idol’before she boils my rabbit,” said Tyler. “I strayed from my first love, AEROSMITH, and I’m back – but instead of begging on my hands and knees, I’ve got two fists in the air and I’m kicking the door open with my band. The next few years are going to be dedicated to kicking some serious ass – the ultimate in auditory takeover…On Nov. 6, we are unleashing our new album, Music from Another Dimension on the Earth, Moon, Mars, and way beyond the stars…IDOL was over-the-top fun, and I loved every minute of it…Now it’s time to bring Rock Back. ERMAHGERD.”

“It’s been a tremendous honor to have Steven – one of the most prolific artists in the world – on AMERICAN IDOL for the past two seasons,” said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company.  “He’s been a terrific judge, a true friend and great mentor to everyone involved with the show, and we know he’ll continue to be a huge inspiration to IDOL hopefuls for years to come. We are very sad that Steven has chosen to focus more on his music, but we always knew when we hired a rock ’n’ roll legend, he would go back to the music.  We all wish him all the best and would love to have him back on the show anytime.”

“Steven Tyler is a real ‘Idol,’ a rock legend. If you had told me 10 years ago he would be a judge on AMERICAN IDOL, I would have thought it impossible,” stated IDOL creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. “The fact that this became a reality and we had the pleasure of him gracing our stage for two seasons makes me very proud. I completely understand his desire to get back to his life as the singer in America’s greatest-ever rock band. AMERICAN IDOL will miss him!”

“We’re all very thankful and privileged that Steven joined AMERICAN IDOL two years ago,” said Cecile Frot-Coutaz, CEO, FremantleMedia. “A true music icon, he not only brought rock ’n’ roll to the show, but also his exceptional taste in spotting and nurturing undiscovered talent. We will sincerely miss his poetic phrases, his remarkable creativity and his unique spirit. We’re sad about his departure from the show, but understand his decision to return to music full-time and hope he’ll be back to grace the AMERICAN IDOL stage in seasons to come.”

AMERICAN IDOL is produced by 19 Entertainment, a division of CKX, Inc. and FremantleMedia North America, Inc.

This year marked a record breaking year with nearly one million fans casting their vote for Entertainer of the Year and New Artist of the Year categories, combined.

Miranda Lambert won Female Vocalist of the Year and Blake Shelton won Male Vocalist of the Year.  This is Lambert’s third consecutive win as Female Vocalist of the Year and Shelton’s first win as Male Vocalist of the Year.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Awards counts for artists reflect categories in which they have been recognized as individuals or as part of their duo or group. In some cases, an artist may receive more than one nomination which factors into their official count. For example, Kenny Chesney received two nominations in the Album of the Year category—one each as artist and producer—because that category recognizes both.

In addition, the Song of the Year category recognizes the artist, composer and publishing company as a nominee but does not recognize an individual as owner or partial owner of the publishing company.

Award recipients in each category are noted above parenthetically in the Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and Vocal Event of the Year.

Ricky Gervais return as Host of the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, January 15, 2012

Ricky GervaisOn Thursday, November 17, 2011 The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced that Multi-talented Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Ricky Gervais (“The Office,” “The Ricky Gervais Show”) has signed for the third time to return as host of NBC’s The 69th Annual Golden Globe® Awards on Sunday, January 15, 2012. This year’s show will again be broadcast live coast-to-coast from 5:00-8:00 p.m. (PST)/8:00-11:00 p.m. (EST) from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The announcement was made today by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s (HFPA) President Dr. Aida Takla- O’Reilly, dick clark productions and NBC.

“They must be mad. Not sure if I’m flattered that they trust me or insulted that they trust me. Either way… they shouldn’t trust me,” said Gervais.

“We are extremely pleased to be working with Ricky Gervais again as he brings his notorious wit to Hollywood’s biggest party of the year,” said Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC. “He seems to get better each year as host of the Globes, and he adds an unpredictable element to the ceremonies that keeps everyone on their toes.”

“It’s our pleasure to welcome Ricky Gervais back and we hope everyone watching will have as much fun as we will,” said Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly, president of the HFPA.

“We are very happy that Ricky will be joining us for a 3rd year as host of the Golden Globe Awards,” stated dcp’s president, Orly Adelson. “His unique point of view and his mischievous streak are a perfect match to the irreverent nature of the show.”

Last year’s (2011) Golden Globe Awards earned the event’s biggest overall audience (17.003 million) since 2007. With a 5.2 rating, 14 share in adults 18-49, The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards earned NBC’s highest 18-49 rating in the time period, excluding sports, since the prior year’s Golden Globes.

At the time of its airing, the 2011 Golden Globes equaled the highest 18-49 rating for any network in the time period, excluding sports, since ABC’s telecast of the “Academy Awards” on the previous March 7. It was also at that time NBC’s top-rated primetime entertainment telecast in adults 18-49 since the 2010 Golden Globes.

Creator and star of “The Office” and “Extras,” Gervais has won three Golden Globes, two primetime Emmys, and seven BAFTAS. “The Office” is the most successful British comedy of all time, shown in more than 90 countries with seven remakes. The NBC version is the most successful U.S. remake of a British show in more than 30 years.

Considered the most influential British comedian since Charlie Chaplin, Gervais is an award-winning standup comedian, and his tour “Fame” became the fastest-selling UK stand up show in history. Gervais is also featured in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most downloaded Internet show of all time. He has written, directed, produced and starred in “Cemetery Junction,” “The Invention of Lying” and starred in “Ghost Town.”

In 2010, Gervais was asked to be the first host of the Golden Globes since 1995. He was named in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World and awarded the ‘Sir Peter Ustinov Comedy Award’ from the Banff World Television Festival.

The 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be seen in more than 160 countries worldwide and is one of the few awards ceremonies that span both television and motion picture achievements. The special will be produced by dick clark productions in association with the HFPA.

Dr. Aida Takla-O’Reilly is President of the HFPA. Orly Adelson, president of dick clark productions and Barry Adelman will executive-produce the special. Bob Bardo is the executive in charge of production.
