Jimmy Kimmel to present first Annual Right to Laugh Award to Fred Willard
Bill Maher, Jimmy Kimmel, Bob Odenkirk, Dana Gould, Dave Koechner, Garfunkel & Oats, Ali Wong and others will be the star performers at the second annual RIGHT to LAUGH comedy event on April 27, 2011, supporting The Alliance for Children’s Rights, the only free legal service organization in Los Angeles solely dedicated to the protection of impoverished and abused children. The event will be held at the Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood beginning at 6pm for a cocktail reception with the show at 8pm.
On the evening it will be the presentation of the first-ever Right to Laugh Award, which will be presented to comedy icon Fred Willard by television host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel.
Hosted by the Friends of the Alliance, a group of individuals who support The Alliance for Children’s Rights, the event is expected to bring in more than 300 supporters from the entertainment, corporate and philanthropic communities. The event will raise funds for The Alliance to maintain the vital resources needed to continue to protect the rights of impoverished and abused children.
“There is nothing funny about the plight of abused children in Los Angeles, but luckily the gift of comedy has the power to connect people, build awareness, and raise resources, and that is why this is such a special evening,” commented UTA co-founder Peter Benedek who is co-chairing the event.
