Taylor Swift, fun. and Maroon 5 Tie for the Lead as Contenders in 11 Award Categories, Followed by Rihanna, Carly Rae Jepsen and One Direction.

On Monday, April 22, 2013, Billboard announced the highly anticipated 2013 Billboard Music Awards finalists, following the year-long tracking period of March 12, 2012 to March 10, 2013, including such names as Taylor Swift, fun., Maroon 5 and One Direction. Winners will be revealed on “The 2013 Billboard Music Awards” airing live from Las Vegas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena SUNDAY, MAY 19 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network, sponsored by Chevrolet, Las Vegas and Samsung GALAXY S 4. Taylor Swift, fun. and Maroon 5 tie for the lead with nods in 11 award categories, followed by Rihanna and Carly Rae Jepsen as finalists in 10 and 9 categories, respectively. One Direction is the finalist with the next-highest count, with spots in an impressive 8 categories. Out of their 11 categories, the three leaders will all compete for Top Hot 100 Artist and Top Digital Songs Artist. Maroon 5 and fun. will also vie for Top Duo/Group, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Hot 100 Song and Top Digital Song. Maroon 5 and Taylor Swift will compete for Top Artist, while fun. and Taylor Swift are both finalists for Top Streaming Song (Video).
Rihanna is a strong contender as a finalist in 10 categories, including Top Artist, Top Female Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Streaming Artist, Top R&B Artist, Album and Song, as well as Top Dance Song. Carly Rae Jepsen’s breakout hit, “Call Me Maybe,” earned her a finalist position in 6 separate song categories, including Top Hot 100 Song, Top Digital Song, Top Radio Song, Top Streaming Song (Video) and Top Pop Song.
Debuting for the first time this year, the Billboard Music Awards will also feature new EDM categories due to the overwhelming popularity of this genre, which will spotlight top electronic dance music artists, albums and songs.
Billboard Music Awards finalists were based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital singles sales, radio airplay, touring, streaming and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, VEVO, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements were tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Entertainment and Next Big Sound.

LOS ANGELES, CA (January 28, 2013) – The NAACP announced today that Halle Berry, LL Cool J, Naomi Campbell, Archie Panjabi, Common, Terrence Jenkins, Wanda Sykes, Cedric The Entertainer, Keke Palmer, Tyler James Williams, Meagan Good, Laz Alonso and Lamorne Morris have been added to present at the 44th NAACP Image Awards broadcast LIVE from Los Angeles’ historic Shrine Auditorium on Friday, Feb. 1, 8-10 p.m. ET (PT tape-delayed) on NBC.

Diahann Carroll and others will introduce special tributes.  Wyclef and Common will perform.

In addition, the NAACP “Entertainer of the Year” will be revealed.  This special honor is being bestowed upon an individual within the entertainment industry who has achieved notable success in multiple projects and mediums. The results were determined by a national polling company who surveyed a diverse sampling of individuals from across the country to vote and determine the recipient. 

As previously announced, comedian, author, radio and talk show host, Steve Harvey will host and Samuel L. Jackson, Jamie Foxx, Wanda Sykes and Tony Goldwyn will be presenters.  In addition, Dennis Haysbert will be the in-show announcer.  Kerry Washington will receive the NAACP President’s Award and United States Navy Vice Admiral Michelle Janine Howard will receive the NAACP Chairman’s Award.

Nominees for the NAACP Image Awards are determined by the number of entries received by the deadline.  To be eligible, projects must have had a national distribution date between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2012. For the 2012 voting period, over 1,200 submissions were received by the artists, managers, publicists, production companies, record labels, studios, networks and/or publishers. From those entries, a nominating committee of 300 industry professionals and NAACP leaders from across the country select five nominees in each of the 53 categories. Those results were announced at a press conference. To determine the winners, the members of the NAACP vote via a secured online site. The results are tabulated by the Image Awards auditors, Bert Smith & Co., and the results are confidential until the envelope is opened LIVE on stage during the NBC telecast on Friday, February 1, 2013.

The NAACP Image Awards production team includes Executive Producers Reginald Hudlin and Brad Lachman. Bill Bracken will serve as Supervising Producer and Byron Phillips as Producer. The production team also includes Tony McCuin as Director and Melanie Massie as the Talent Executive.

The 19th edition of the best-selling collection includes many of the most widely recognized GRAMMY categories representing nominees for Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song, and Best Rock Album. On October 9, 2012 Recording artist Christina Aguilera revealed the “The 40th Anniversary American Music Awards® (AMAs)” nominations this morning from the J.W. Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE (see full list of nominees below). It was also announced that Christina Aguilera will be performing on this year’s show which will be broadcast live from the NOKIA Theatre L.A. The event was streamed live on LatinGRAMMY.com (and is now available as video on demand) and was hosted by The Latin Recording Academy® President/CEO Gabriel Abaroa Jr., and Univision television personality Giselle Blondet. Artists reading nominations this morning included: Maria Barracuda of pop/rock group JotdogMiguel “Slow” Martinez and Carlos “Tostao” Valencia of hip-hop/funk trio ChocQuibTown; pop vocalist Shaila Durcal; singer/songwriter Kany Garcia; pop duo Jesse & Joy; international superstar Juanes; singer/songwriter Gian Marco; Latin pop group Reik; Norteno band Los Tucanes de Tijuana; and pop/rock artist Ana Victoria. As announced earlier this year, each of the four categories in the General Field (Record Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Song Of The Year, and Best New Artist) now include 10 nominations; the three categories in the Pop Field (Best Female Pop Vocal Album, Best Male Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Album By A Duo Or Group With Vocal) are now combined into two categories: Best Contemporary Pop Vocal Album and Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album; Best Pop/Rock Album has been added in the Rock Field; and Best Tropical Fusion Album has been added to the Tropical Field.

This year’s Latin GRAMMY Awards process registered a record-breaking more than 7,500 submissions over a 12-month eligibility period (Jul. 1, 2011 – June. 30, 2012), and all members of The Latin Recording Academy were able to submit entries for consideration through an online entry process for the first time. Latin GRAMMY ballots for the final round of voting will be mailed on Oct. 2 to the voting members of The Latin Recording Academy. They are due back to the accounting firm Deloitte by Oct. 23, when they will be tabulated and the results kept secret until the XIII Latin GRAMMY telecast. This year, for the first time, The Latin Recording Academy and Spotify will be working together to offer voting members and all music fans the opportunity to listen to nominated music for the XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards. The XIII Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards will be supported on radio via Univision Radio (the official Spanish-language radio network of the Latin GRAMMY Awards), and highlighted on the Internet at www.latingrammy.com andwww.univisionmusica.com, featuring video interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from today’s nominations announcement. Additionally, the telecast will be distributed internationally to more than 100 countries.

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. – September 13, 2012 – Jake Gyllenhaal, Ryan Lochte, Robert Rodriguez, Zoë Saldana, Natalie Morales, Andy Garcia and Rafael Amaya will be presenters at the 2012 NCLR ALMA Awards®, along with “Devious Maids” cast members Ana Ortiz, Judy Reyes, Dania Ramirez and Edy Ganem. The star-studded special kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month airs Friday, September 21 (8-9 p.m. ET) on NBC.

Rap sensation Flo Rida will perform with Roselyn Sanchez during the high-energy show, which will feature theme music written and performed by music powerhouse Pitbull.

In addition to serving as a presenter, Olympic Gold medalist Ryan Lochte will also be one of six Latino Olympic medal winners from this summer’s London Games saluted in a special Olympic tribute.

Also honored will be Brenda Villa and Jessica Steffens (water polo), Danell Leyva (men’s gymnastics), Leonel Manzano (track and field) and Marlen Esparza (boxing).

As previously announced, Eva Longoria and George Lopez will return as co hosts of the 2012 NCLR ALMA Awards®, and five-time Grammy Award winner Christina Aguilera (NBC’s “The Voice”) will receive the 2012 NCLR Special Achievement Award for her incredible career and exceptional work in philanthropy. America Ferrera, Michael Peña, Nicole Richie and Wilmer Valderrama will also be on hand to celebrate the accomplishments of some of the most prolific Latinos in the entertainment industry, spanning music, television and film.
