Las Vegas, NV – June 16, 2013 – This evening, during one of the year’s most watched live television events, a star-studded panel of judges chose Miss Connecticut USA, Erin Brady, as Miss USA 2013. Giuliana Rancic, “E! News” co-anchor, and Nick Jonas, Grammy-nominated American singer-songwriter, hosted the 62nd Annual MISS USA® Competition from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
Erin Brady is a 25 year-old from East Hampton, Connecticut and is a Financial Accountant for Prudential Retirement in Hartford, Conn. She graduated from Central Connecticut University with a degree in Finance and a minor in Criminal Justice.
The judging panel for the 2013 MISS USA® Competition included: Bob Harper, Health and Fitness Expert, Author and Star on NBC’s “The Biggest Loser;” Betsey Johnson, Legendary Fashion Designer and Star of Style Network’s “XOX Betsey Johnson;” NeNe Leakes, Actress “Glee,” Bravo star of “Real Housewives Atlanta” and “I Dream of NeNe;” Wendie Malick, Actress, Star of TV Land’s “Hot in Cleveland;” Jessica Robertson, Reality TV Personality on A&E’s “Duck Dynasty;” Larry Fitzgerald, MVP Wide Receiver for the Arizona Cardinals, Seven-time Pro Bowl Selection; Nikki Bella, Former WWE® Diva Champion and TV Personality on E!’s “Total Divas;” Mo Rocca, Correspondent, “Sunday Morning” with Charles Osgood, Host of Cooking Channel’s “My Grandmother’s Ravioli;” and Christina Milian, American Actress, Singer-songwriter, Social Media Correspondent on NBC’s “The Voice.”
During the telecast, mega-popular pop-rock band The Jonas Brothers and “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio, one of the world’s most sought after DJs, performed. Jeannie Mai, best known as the host of Style Network’s two-time Emmy Award-nominated makeover series “How Do I Look?” and who can be seen this summer on Style Network’s new series “Style Pop” took viewers behind-the-scenes to engage with contestants, talent and fans throughout the telecast. This year, fans were able to vote their favorite contestant into the top six, using Twitter, during the MISS USA Competition and chose Miss Texas USA, Ali Nugent.
Throughout the two-hour event and before an estimated worldwide viewing audience of more than 250 million, contestants competed in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown and interview. When last year’s Miss USA, Olivia Culpo went on to win the Miss Universe crown, Nana Meriwether’s dreams came true when she took over the Miss USA title. Meriwether crowned her successor at the conclusion of the telecast.

First Runner Up: Miss Alabama USA, Mary Margaret McCord, will assume the duties of Miss USA 2013 if the titleholder is named Miss Universe 2013 or if for some reason Miss USA cannot fulfill her duties.

Thanks To the Haters A Young Star Name Sebastien De La Cruz is Born at the NBA Finals

There was more action brewing on the court at the Houston’s AT&T Center this week than the San Antonio Spurs vs. the Miami Heat.
If you caught the opening of both Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals, you may have heard Sebastien De La Cruz singing a spirited version of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Dressed in traditional mariachi wardrobe, the 11-year old singer replaced former Hootie & the Blowfish/country singer Darius Rucker for the spotlight role. Rather than critiquing the vocals (clearly the boy is a gifted singer), certain folks took to their Twitter accounts and attacked the patriotic moment using a barrage of embarrassing racist attacks. Yeah, they decided to throw out more of the senseless rhetoric about what is and what is not American.

Sebastien De La Cruz decided to respond to the “haters” by being more classy and more mature than all of them lumped together. This is what he said:
For those who were shamelessly quick to judge and not smart enough to utilize the power of a search engine, the same kid actually starred on America’s Got Talent as the frontboy for El Charros De Oro.
Not only that, he’s a native of San Antonio – born and raised. Cue the silence from the haters.
Because of all the hate that came his way, tons of love were tossed back at the courageous kid. Due to public demand, he returned to center court on Thursday night to perform the Star-Spangled Banner. This time, he was introduced by Mayor Julián Castro and was even greeted by Gregg Popovich and Erik Spoelstra, coaches of both teams. Now that oughta shut the mouths of the KKK spawn children. If those figures don’t address the power of diversity, I don’t know what else will.
NBA commissioner David Stern even weighed in on the conversation. “Racism and prejudice does not stand” in the NBA, Stern said. “The values of the game transcend borders.”

Six hours ago this was posted on his Facebook Fanpage “Yesterday it fell to my wall (so they say) for Facebook a note that spoke of a child whose name had never heard but which is now one of my heroes for his big heart and humanity. His name is Sebastien de la Cruz. I say “El Charro de Oro”. He’s only ten years and possesses a phenomenal voice that made it to the semifinals of the famous America’s Got Talent program where he played nothing more and nothing less than the song made famous by Frank Sinatra, New York, New York.
Turns out the little Sebastien wanted to go see your favorite team play basketball in San Antonio Texas, where it is native. They would play the San Antonio Spurs against the Miami Heat in game three of the final number for the NBA championship. In transit to the game, Sebastien and his father received a call from his agent who tells him that Darius Rucker, American singer, lead singer of Hootie and the Blowfish, had canceled at the last minute.
The Little Sebastian, took off his cap to the Spurs, his shirt and shorts and put his charro costume singing the national anthem of the United States. His prominent voice and near perfect interpretation made the stadium shuddered with excitement. But a sector shuddered united states: the racist, the bigot, the rude, the ignorant.
I can not express in words the sadness that brings me as a human being human also know myself and know that I live and cohabit in a country where the “Americans” have a false conception about Latinos, calling them inferior, second-or third-class human sub when the reality is different. Icon to Sing ‘Woman’s World’ in Advance of New Album Due Sept. 24.
UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif. — June 10, 2013 — Oscar, Grammy, Emmy and three-time Golden Globe winner Cher will make a live appearance on the June 18 season finale of NBC’s musical competition series “The Voice.”
Cher will perform “Woman’s World,” the first single off her upcoming album of the same name that is due Sept. 24. “Woman’s World” marks the first album in 12 years for Cher and her appearance on “The Voice” will be her first live TV performance in over a decade.
