Billboard Hit Recording Artist Fawn is no stranger to random acts of kindness and philanthropic work. Her first single, Oneday, released when she was a teen-ager raised millions of dollars for people with HIV/AIDS. Through out her young life she has donated time, money and her talents to causes all over the globe. This year marks the 3rd Holiday song contribution Fawn has made for the Holiday Magic CD Project founded, created and produced by professional voice actor Jeff Gelder in 2003.
The inspiration came when Gelder was tasked in a Landmark Education class to come up with a project that would enhance the community and ultimately take on a life of its own. That’s exactly what has happened and ever since then, he has worked on this Holiday project all year long, for the past 12 years.
Gelder stated, “This year we hope to once again have CD’s for Children’s Hospital’s in San Diego, Milwaukee, Albuquerque, Orange, New Orleans, Houston, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Madera, Wilmington, Oakland, Omaha, Providence, St. Louis, Greenville, NC, Greenville, SC, Raleigh, Aurora, Cleaveland, Minneapolis, Detroit, Fargo, Duluth, Singapore, Asia, Newcastle Upon Tyne and London, England.” He went on to say, “Through the generous donations of several singers and actors, we are creating the 13th annual compilation recording titled Holiday Magic, A Gift for Children of all Ages 2015.
Gelder continued, “This tale is shared by Jeffery the reindeer and Santa Claus, as they make their way from the North Pole to visit the children. They are joined by Jeffery’s cousin Carlito who lives at the San Diego Wild Animal Park, Kate the adventurous reindeer from Milwaukee, Mrs. Claus, Trixie the Jersey Reindeer, and Master Elf Thalion who runs Santa’s workshop. This year’s story theme is Teamwork and Creative Thinking, so the children get to see what happens when Santa’s sleigh is stuck and Christmas is almost missed!”
Jeff Gelder explained, “our goal is to brighten the holidays for the children spending the season at Children’s Hospital’s and their siblings. Last year nearly 10,000 copies of the CD were delivered to Children’s Hospitals internationally and they were thrilled to have them and distribute them to their patients!” He continued, “This year’s goal is to produce and deliver 18,000 copies, which will be travel all around the country and overseas to London and Singapore in December.”
Fawn said, “Over the years, I have handed out gifts on Christmas eve, dressed as Mrs. Claus with (Santa of course), to children in hospitals, as well as home-bound individuals, and there is no greater feeling than being in a room that lights up with happiness, laughter and smiles.” Fawn continued, “The hard part for me is always holding back my own tears. It’s a very emotional and spiritual experience when you think of others, even if it’s only a small gesture to say, ‘I’m here and I care.” When asked how she heard about the project, she explained, “Through my incredible friend and amazing music business partner Beth Wernick. She has a heart of gold and submitted my songs for consideration. I was elated to hear they accepted them for the 2012, 2014 and 2015 projects.”
This year they are holding An Evening Of Holiday Magic on Sunday, December 13, 2015 At Martini’s Above Fourth Table and Stage located at 3940 4th Ave. San Diego, CA. 92103. The fundraiser includes a 3 course dinner, show and auction with performances by Platinum Recording Artist and Actor Rex Smith, LeLe Rose, Teri Wilder, Jeff Gelder, Peggy Lebo, Deva Vani and a possible appearance by Fawn.
Gelder said, “Please consider donating a minimum of $50 or more, but no amount is too big or too small. Your gift is much needed and immensely appreciated. Every donation goes toward gifting a CD to a child.” He continued, “This is a labor of love that is received with much joy by children who are unfortunately spending the holiday season in the hospital with their families, many of which have siblings who often crave attention due to so much being given to the ailing member of their family. The more donations, the more children we will be able to give a CD to.”
