Woodland Hills, CA – July 18, 2013 – Republican Susan Shelley has won the first balloting of the 45th Assembly District special election.
The Encino Chamber of Commerce released the results of a straw poll held following a candidate forum in which ten candidates — seven Democrats, two Republicans and an independent — answered questions for ninety minutes.
The results were:
1. Susan Shelley 29.7% 2. Jeff Ebenstein 27% 3. Damian Carroll 19.9% 4. Matt Dababneh Tied with the same number of votes –
5. Andra Hoffman, Chris Kolski & Dennis De Young 6. Elizabeth Badger Tied with the same number of votes –
Susan Shelley is a Republican candidate for Congress in California’s 30th district, the west and south San Fernando Valley. She’s the author of the novel “The 37th Amendment” and of a modern history of the Bill of Rights titled, “How the First Amendment Came to Protect Topless Dancing.” She graduated from California State University Northridge with B.A. in American history and went on to work for Merv Griffin Enterprises, where she was the Associate Producer of “Jeopardy!” before going on to be a full-time writer. Her work has appeared in the Los Angeles Times, the Los Angeles Daily News, and other papers around the country.
